Hello Freddy, Firstly, I would like to thank you for the wonderful and clear explanation video you created. I have a few doubts regarding the video, and it would be great if you could spare 2 minutes to address them if possible. I noticed in the video that we are unable to associate the Express Route Circuit with VNG since the circuit is not yet provisioned. My question is, if I am preparing to incorporate Express Route in our organization to establish a private connection between on-premises and the cloud, what will be the steps I need to follow? I want to create a proposal, and I need to understand whether I need to create the Express Route first or VNG, and when I need to configure the BGP session between the on-premises CPE and VNG. Could you please tell me the steps in order. Thank You Very Much.

Hello Roshan, yes of course. the steps would be the following: 1) create the express route circuit and get the Service Key and contact the ISP and get them to provision the circuit. they will provision it in a failover mode from the MSEE to the meet-me point. once the circuit is provisioned you can create the VNG in the Vnet that you want to connect to the Circuit and associate it. I would not create the VNG before because you do pay from the moment the VNG is created even if it's not attached to any circuit. on the Azure side you do have to type the BGP Autonomous System (AS) when provisioning the link and the ISP will give you that as well as the VLAN ID you will use. I hope this helps if you have any other questions ask or find me on twitter and send me a DM @freddydubon

@@freddydubon4619 Thank you so much for taking the time from your busy schedule to reply to my question. You have a new subscriber and follower now. I just wanted to reconfirm on the same question - regarding the BGP configuration, is it correct that I need to do this as the last step and that it can only be done once I associate the VNG with the express route circuit? Additionally, the BGP configuration will be between the onprem CPE and the VNG, is that right? I am actually looking to propose this solution and would like to provide a detailed explanation to my team. Thank you again for your assistance. Also would you mind if i ask couple of more questions about this 🙂

Not a bad description, but the errors with IP addressing are a bit confusing

I have questions, have private peering with on-prem. Now we can see route table over exprrsroute circuit section. Like view route table in which we can see bgp route coming from on-prem. Now 1 more route/prefix also being advertised from on-prem. But the issue is we can't see over the exprrsroute's route table. We don't have route filter in place. But should atleast visible in express route private peering. Please help

I am not sure if it's related, but typically when this is happening you need to call your provider and make sure your VLAN matches what they are providing you. it is a layer 2 connection and VLAN number must match. also check if the provider is giving you a layer 2 connection to your routers or a QnQ link
