Hi Adam , As I say everytime your videos on azure are to the next level ..thanks a lot for the wonderful knowledge you are helping us with. I have one question , Can you please let me know the difference between vcore and dtu in azure.. May be am looking at a real time simple scenario which can give me a complete picture.
@AdamMarczakYT5 жыл бұрын
hey Murthy, Thanks! DTU is old pricing model, a lot of clients didn't like that they couldn't specify amount of virtual cores. Also in vCore you can scale storage independently of compute power, which in case of DTU you paid for certain allocated storage and if you needed more storage you needed to upgrade DTU. New vCore machines also have more powerful tiers.

How to manage if I want to have more people access to the database? Do I have to add them as an admin as well? Plus I do not know their ips as they are also changing. Thanks. Great video
@AdamMarczakYT4 жыл бұрын
You can easily grant regular user access to database via CREATE USER command. Check this out azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/adding-users-to-your-sql-azure-database/?WT.mc_id=AZ-MVP-5003556 when it comes to IPs you are out of luck. You would need to open firewall which is not recommended. So the best way is to grant users a role (or a custom role) to allow them to change firewall to grant themselves access. Or do a small automation. Thanks for tuning in.
