BB King started a nonprofit named after my nephew called the Corey Osborn foundation and they raise money for highschool bands to provide instruments for students who can't afford to rent or buy them
@suecook13264 ай бұрын
Joe Bonamassa is really promoting that charity. It's now called Keeping The Blues Alive. They perform on Blues Cruises and other venues to raise money for high school music programs.
@sammymarcy60294 ай бұрын
@@suecook1326 my sister ran it when BB King asked permission to use Corey's name and she decided to turn it over several years ago but we still have the Bolton Palooza every fall to raise money for our local schools in the Memphis area. Corey was raised in Bolton and graduated from Bolton high school. Barbara Blue spoke at Corey's funeral and he would go to her house for jam sessions every couple of months with a lot of the performers from Beal Street. Rod Bland son of Bobby (Blue) Bland was Corey's drummer

Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Jimmie Vaughan played on stage with Stevie Ray Vaughan at his final performance on Aug 26th 1990 at Alpine Valley so this is a bittersweet blues reunion. They played a version of BB King's Sweet Home Chicago as the final song SRV would ever play
@bikermama334 ай бұрын
I had just discovered SRV when he passed. I was 20 and it was then and there that I discovered the blues… and found BB KING! Then I found Robert Cray… so much talent in this performance ❤❤❤
@kurtsaxton8234 ай бұрын
Sweet home Chicago is actually Buddy Guy's song. Which was also present at that last performance of Stevie Ray. He didn't play that night he was a spectator.

This is at Crossroads. Starting from B.B. King down the line it's BB, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Jimmy Vaughn. Stevie Ray Vaughns brother. I love Mr. B. B. King. He is my go to man. R,I,P, B,B. You are missed. Gone but not forgotten. B.B. toured till he couldn't anymore.

I was fortunate to catch him at many delta blues festivals, I've seen him on a small venue in his club on Beale Street. I worked for Hertz Rent-a-Car back in the early nineties late 80s in Jackson Mississippi,BB King was a platinum customer and I delivered him his Lincoln several times, very cool and very humble. Pride of Mississippi and a true bluesman. And gentlemen. And very missed.

Weird I wonder why my message showed up twice. Anyways the people that came out on stage later with Buddy Guy and Susan Tedeschi was even more impressive. I picked up a guitar in 1970, because of Jimmy Page, I lived for 25 years in the state of Mississippi so I was fortunate enough to catch a lot of these Mississippi blues artists. I saw Stevie Ray live in the 80s, and then again on his last tour with Eric Clapton in Dallas, not long before he passed. I feel very fortunate to catch a lot of these guys when others will never see them except on video. There are some good ones out there today with Samantha fish Christone Kingfish, Marcus King, Tedeschi Trucks. And several others. I'm happy that people are keeping the Blues alive in BB King's tradition.

BB King lived in Las Vegas for many years. I grew up in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Sun, one of the local newspapers, sponsored an annual forum for high school seniors. The Sun Youth Forum was a big deal in its day. BB King generously appeared and performed at the one I attended in 1972. He sang and played, sitting on a chair in the aisle of the venue! He spoke and encouraged. It was unforgettable. He was a good man.

I got to see BB King back in the early 90's at Melody Fair, only sat 3,000 people. The acts performed on a rotating stage. Quite intimate. I was lucky enough to sit in the isle seat, which Mr. King walked down playing his guitar to the stage. What a thrill. The only other show I got to see there was Howie Mandel, when he was so young & had a head of hair.

Next to Eric is Robert Cray- had a hit in the mid-'80s called "Smoking Gun" [ kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJi0dnetn82Ueqc ] ... Then the next fellow is the older brother to your ol' pal Stevie Ray, Jimmie Vaughan, who was lead guitarist for the Fabulous Thunderbirds, also from the mid/late '80s... In the throng that takes the stage near the end were several older bluesmen, but also the left-handed guitarist from Los Lobos and even Ron Wood (of the Rolling Stones!).....

Crossroads is Claptons non-profit for addiction. Anytime you can get a video from one of his crossroads shows, always worth it. Full of famous guitarists. There is a video out there of the Rolling Stones doing what looks like a private event for friends and family. They are kinda just screwing around then BB King shows up. All of the Stones were so totally fan boying him. Mick Jagger didnt even really want to sing with him. Not great quality, but it just shows how much influence BB King had on the music world.
