I still remember it like it was yesterday. In 1988, in the schoolyard, a friend came with an Onkelz cassette. I was immediately infected. A year later, the Onkelz shirt was banned at school. Shortly afterwards my class conference because I didn't stick to it. Then my parents took it away from me. My consequence: My first Onkelz tattoo. Self stabbed. Has caught fire. That was the time when you didn't belong to society if you heard Onkelz. CDs were only available under the counter, if at all. Children, how time flies... over 30 years of Onkelz celebrations and countless concerts. At my first there were just 2000 people. Today these are the biggest concerts in Germany. A time you will never forget. I wouldn't be who I am today without Onkelz. It's much more than music. It's a way of life.

Even in germany they never play onkelz in radio. There is no TV commercial or good things about them in the newspapers. But they are BIG. And thats the way the onkelz and we the nephews and nieces want it.

Sry, i'm german. So my answer in broken english. Correct! No presentation on radio. No TV ist not so correct. They have MTV destroyed in Germany. "Keine Amnestie für MTV"

Every time I hear or sing the chant "Oh, wie ist das schön" or "So ein Tag, so wunderschön wie heute" i get goosebumps like hell. So thanks for showing it.

I really appreciate your reactions to german rock bands! Not really many people here on youtube look further than the the usual english speaking bands. Nothing wrong with that but as a german Onkelz/Hosen/Blind Guardian/Ärzte fan it`s refreshing to see Americans and english rock fans appreciate what german bands are capable of

Rammstein is cheap entertainment, with no message. The Onkelz are the best and most versatile rockband. It's poetry...

The translator took quite a bit of artistic license with this song. Carried the sentiment and all but still a bit off....
