tow package不只掛勾和配線而已。oil coolers和radiator with extra capacity也很重要。

Ahh, the joys of towing with the Lexus GX/LX. Towing greater than 7000# on the LX570 can be done safely. The stock soft springs and AHC (hydraulic suspension) only allow the LX570 to tow up to 7000# whereas the Land Cruiser (same platform) can tow up to 8200#. If you swap out the stock springs with OME 2721 or heavier duty springs like Icon 2" dual rated springs, you can safely tow more than the 7000# without the AHC crapping out on you. In fact you can tow just as much as the Land Cruiser if you upgrade to the proper coil springs. The reason is because now you allow more weight to be carried by the coil springs and place less strain on the AHC system. The AHC is still there to help level the car but it doesn't have to work as hard. Downside will be less cushy ride because you are using heavier duty springs. More info can be found on IH8MUD forum. Brake controller: Always use a weight distribution and sway control hitch if you are towing that much. It is easy to add brake controller to the LX/GX, just go to etrailer.com. Toyota/Lexus already include the connector under the dash. All you have to do is connect it to a brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3. Towing package: The stock towing package is adequate at best. If you monitor your transmission temperature on either the GX or LX, you will notice that you will still hit 200+ ATF temp even without towing... I definitely hit 240 to 260 on the ATF temp while towing with the GX and LX. The stock towing package transmission cooler for the GX is small and the one on the LX is barely twice the size. If you tow regularly with the Lexus, I recommend upgrading the transmission cooler to a bigger aftermarket transmission cooler such as the Tru-Cool LPD or Max series. Your "lifetime" transmission fluid will thank you. My ATF temps dropped to 170ish when not towing and 200/210 ish when towing uphill. ATF fluid: If you tow regularly, make sure you replace the supposed "lifetime" ATF fluid in the transmission. Heat kills transmissions.
