Thanks for this video. I have a 2000 Deluxe myself, that I'm about to pop open to do some DIY service without any skills or prior experience. It's not the suitcase model, but I guess this video will be my guide nonetheless.

you are in for quite the expirence these old machines are a work of art , one thing that has helped me a bit in the past is to carefully move the mekanical parts with the intended levers look for parts that do not engage all the way binding or slipping, this video is really good at showing a major service , but it takes either good skill or perservering ,,good luck regards from denmark

@@kurtmogensen4815 Thanks. I got the machine up and running pretty well. It's not 100% accurate regarding speed and stability, but I'm more or less only going to use it for adding some analogue tape delay to my synthesizers, so that's ok. Hov - jeg er også fra Danmark, så pænt goddag på dansk.

Hi I have a Beocord 1800 that looks quite similar. Having problem with rewind, any ideas how to fix? Saw it was mentioned cleaning a switch at the end of this excellent video. How was that done? Hard to get inside the plastic.
@dchatz4 ай бұрын
If the problem is the switch then you have a problem on both FF and REW. If you have a problem only on REW your problem can be the rubber roller. Clean the switch anyway. I remember that this switch could be opened just by popping the upper cover with a screwdriver but not sure.Before doing anything check first the voltage on the motor. On normal playback it should be about 42V and on fast FF or REW it should rise to 48V (AC, not DC). If not then the switch is the problem. As I said I don't remember if I opened it. If it cannot be opened easily apply contact cleaner on any gap you can find that reaches inside and press it multiple times to act. Also check if it is indeed engaged by the metal plate when you select FF or REW. Good luck.

@@dchatz Thanks for a quick answer! No problems with fast forward, only rewind. I think it could be the rubber roller, when I test it works with no tape on the machine. When I put on a tape it does not work. Testing without tape and put a finger on the top of the tape wheel it stops working, ande the rubber roller slips. So it either the rubber roller or the "tape plate" that is warn out on the underside . It looks like a furniture cup at the underside of "tape plate" . Any ideas how to find a rubber roller or any ideas to fix?
@dchatz4 ай бұрын
@@DonaldThun rubber rollers cannot be found at reasonable prices. You can only grind the surface a bit with an electric screwdriver and a sandpaper. Check my video about SONY TC-200. Otherwise look for "www.terrysrubberrollers.com/" but I don't think you will agree with the price.

How do you find servicing this compared to A77 ? These seems more mechanical moving components given nothing is direct drive here ?
@dchatzАй бұрын
Revox A77 is for me the king of servicing ability (plenty of space, discrete electronic parts found everywhere, removable cards, lots of info online etc). The motor of this here is a bit struggle to take out and put back.

No belts, only idlers yes ? How does your custom stand hold the machine ? I want to make a stand like yours for my Revox machines to service. Many thanks !
@dchatz Жыл бұрын
Right, no belts, only idlers. That custom stand works only with that machine open. I bolted the frame of the opened machine on the wood on the 2 sides. I measured the distance and created the wooden frame from spare pieces. I built it specially for this machine. The Revox A77 does not need one because it plays standing and can stand while opened also. If you are talking for older Revoxes then you will have to build one specifically for the machine according to it's inner frame. I can't guide you more without to have done it myself.

hi so i figured why i had no play funktion the rubber wheel that sits between the brass engine wheel and and the big heavy ilder? wheel is missing ..in your video at 13, 36 you move it around by turning the speed secletor ,do you know the name of this wheel and where i can get one? regards kim
@dchatz2 жыл бұрын
looking at the service manual that idler is indicated by the number "335" and the name (german) is Zwischenrad which is just "idler" (that is on service manual for 1500). The service manual of 1800 which is in english has for this idler the number 490 with description "Intermediate wheel, dia. 49". Unfortunately you cannot order official parts for this but the diameter 49 (which I guess means 49 mm) can lead you to a solution. Trying to order one from peaple making them will be a bit expensive (try at "www.terrysrubberrollers.com)". But you can try 3D printing. I have a video on my channel where I replace a rubber roller for this machine (but another roller) "kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4CalXloprCMiZI". This task requires a lot of time, effort and possible iterations (make-works?-no-finding why-make again-works?-no-finding why-make again-works-yes -->success). Another way could be to find from ebay a cheap non-fixable unit and use it's idler (which is also not sure if it will be there or if it will be in good condition). Before you do anything be sure your heads are working. These BOGEN heads are notorious for being blown (open circuit). Finding these will be a nightmare. Last.....try and see if one of the 2 other rollers fit (just thought of it).

No they dont move by default from the factory. If you want them to move for the fun of it you may press SonS and increase the SonS level to the desired level of movement

Thanks so much for posting! has anyone tried a vari-speed mod on this one? I have a few beocords i want to mod... any help appreciated
@dchatz Жыл бұрын
This is synchro motor, meaning it's speed depends on the power line frequency. Therefore a varispeed mod is nearly impossible. It would require converting from ac to dc and then back from dc to ac with a variable frequency.
