Every couple of months I just listen to this over and over, sometimes 10 or 12 times. And I can never understand why things have changed. This type of music is soul-stirring and to the glory of God. And some times I will stand up in front of the computer here and dance & shout as well, although I am totally worn out after and my knees can hardly take it. LOL.

Amen, the same in Gallia County, Ohio. they've put the Pentecostal cymbals in a box probably, put the screens on the walls and project the words on them usually just the words. no music notes to follow the words. and pipe the music in. they are singing. unanointed songs and as I have been hearing some sermons on apps and KZbin said by some Apostolic Oneness Pentecostal preachers. I don't listen to the live streaming services for the very reason of the worldly music sung. I listen to it the second time it's played where I can slide over to where the preaching begins.

I am the pastor of a UPCI church in Texas, DFW metro area. All the churches that I know of here , in this area, as far as I know, have pretty much taken this Charasmatic path. Church has become nothing more than a light show, with the atmosphere of a rock concert. It has affected everything, from the Holiness standards on down. I believe that God wants to preserve some things in His people. We still sing these songs, and strive for that presence of God that raises the hair on the back of your neck. God please , let us come to ourselves in this hog pen before it's too late.

onegod, My son says the same thing. Church music has become a time of fussy entertainment and performance while the congregation sits and listens and reads the complicated words on a screen. I just had a young woman who was raised in church tell me I am stuck in the past, and I am shallow and carnal for wanting to rejoice in the Spirit like we used to.

Thank you for this honest testimony. I feel like a jerk going to dead churches that say they are UPC and I am hating the computer generated music and/or the lack of praise and rejoicing there. I will never sing the teeny bopper song, "You've Stolen My Heart, Yes You Have" to my Savior! He is not a thief. He never stole my heart or anything else. Satan is the thief! We used to all scream and leap and run the aisles for joy. People say I am stuck in the past if I complain that the services are designed to force everyone to bow down in misery and defeat to Satan! When did the UPC change their gospel to 1 Cor 15, and is there another organization that holds to the truth and the Spirit? What happened to the membership of the UPC? I don't know because so many churches fell away in NH I have been in and out of UPC churches for years, wondering what is wrong with these people. I am sorry, but I was gloriously saved in a fantastic UPC church in NH, and I want to honor the truth they once taught, because it is the power of God unto salvation, and I rejoice in the truth. And I LOVE Jesus!

I think the organ is still the lead instrument that was made for praise and worship. It gets people involved right away and is heavenly to hear.

Johnsobe, I am sorry to be so negative. My son worked the sound system for a while in a church in Mass actually and the keyboard player was always complaining to turn him up, up, up. He even accused my son of deliberately turning him down to spite him, which was not true. Then the drummer was too loud, and every singer needed to be turned up, and the guitars.... They did not even need microphones and electrified instruments, really, in this small church building!. And the songs are not church songs, they are popular radio songs. I appreciate what the church was for me years ago. The music now is computer generated and generic with simple lyrics designed by unbelievers to be sold for entertainment and profit by the music industry. Why the church has turned to that and abandoned real great hymns is mind boggling. Church becomes a concert for entertaining people, rather than a place of worship and unity and ministry and prayer and miracles and heavenly joy. People sit and do not minister in testimonies either. I used to know every saint because we all testified to each other and were tuned in to each other. We were a real team, a real body working together. We prayed hard together and brought down the fire from heaven. That is a church... .I went to my son's church for a while and never learned more than a couple people's names, and never felt that love and care because everyone sat there, did not praise the Lord, did not speak or testify, like a collection of strangers, and then left after the service. They do not even know what is missing. I am working on not being so furious and devastated about these changes. But I am not going to church right now.That is sad. I told my son's pastor's wife, I may as well go to the local Catholic church than drive 1 1/2 hours to a UPC church.

Johnsobe, Oh my God, yes!. Yesterday I found Jimmy Swaggart classics for the very first time and was blessed to listen to the music, and his message was very meaningful too. What a coincidence. I used to play piano in church, so I know a lot of the old choruses and I have hymn books and chorus books and I play them on my piano at home just like I did in church. The Lord just comes over me, and the songs just flow. The Lord gave me the ability to learn songs by ear. I am not fancy, but I can keep time and play well enough. And I am learning to play on the accordion too. I was watching the crowds at the Jimmy Swaggart crusades, and I was wondering where they are now, and what are they doing. There must be many people who miss the wonderful presence of God we used to have.

J Anderson, I am old and I hate the new music. I love many kinds of music, but there is an attitude of rejecting CHURCH music, hymns, and the powerful spiritual songs that bring people to repentance, tears, sincere dedication, sacrifice, praise, adoration, and rejoicing and victory. They are replacing them with songs that have no power, no doctrinal truth, no inspiration, and do not move the congregation. That tells me the new songs are garbage and we need to go back to the old songs that worked. The church has not moved forward. It is not moving at all. It is dead in the water. If the new songs made the congregations cry and leap out of their seats and run to the altar and shout the victory and run the aisles, I would be all for them. But they do not. Your comment is 8 years old, and it is still being echoed by morons in the church. I am sick of being polite, and I am very grieved for the church.
