Birtukan is a professional newscaster telling us how careful a newscaster should correctly pronounce the name of people and places sadly most Ethiopian journalist newscasters do not do that. Most Ethiopian newscasters distort names of people and places other than Amharic names and places. They make names of people and places to sound like words in Amharic which is very offensive .

I know many people who got back their properties here in Addis. The kebele people took my grandmother's 'service bet' and claimed it as 'tirf bet'. She was poor but went to court and fought for 15 years or so. In 1984, the judge finally ruled that since it is in the same 'gibe' it is part of the main house so the kebele people returned her property back.

Yes, houses which were not officially registered as extra houses by the government but taken by kebeles or kiray betoch ( housing administration office) and that the owners didn't get or collected money( abel) from the government were given back(returned) to the owners. But as she said they have to prove and justify it with proper docunent/evidence. Many houses were returned to their owners on this way. So it's true.
