My freind had the same one vintage airsporter, it used to go straight threw milk bottles without breaking it

It's lost lots of its original power, and all it's 100% original . I'll give it a go and let you know

Is this Airsporter in .22 calibre? If it is then it is in the old British .22 which is 5.6 mm. Try using Marksman 5.6 cal available from John Knibbs in England or RWS Superdome which also work well in the old British airguns.

Darren Cady thanks for the information, effectively it is a .22, a gift from my father many years ago. I’ll give them a go 👍

@@chrisgroves493 Thank you for your reply. I have an old mk1 Airsporter from 1948 (one of the very first made) and it will fire a Marksman 5.6 cal pellet at 575 fps which equates to 10.6 ft lbs and is very accurate. I have owned it for about twenty years and it's still going strong.

Darren Cady pretty good for an old girl, I rarely use mine now, every now and then to make sure everything remains in good working order. But what a pleasure it always is, to get these pieces of history out for a session.

@@chrisgroves493 you took the very words from out of my mouth. These old Airsporters were certainly very well made and that they are still performing after all these years speaks for itself. I can tell you that the successors of mk1 were progressively cheapened and by the the arrival of the mk3 they had not only lost their looks but their performance was not a patch on the mk1 and Mk2. Things went downhill afterwards and quality suffered as BSA constantly sought to reduce manufacturing costs. So yes, a piece of history indeed!

My airsporter 1956 has always for 40+ years had lots of recoil. yours seems a bit weak to the point of none. Finally rebuilt it because the leather seals eventually turned to dust. Box main spring "With 1 coil cut out so i can actually cock it😆". Now kicks like a mule and puts a pellet downrange in a 1/8 of a second. I think that gun needs work and i mean that in the nicest way,

No recoil could be a well tuned gun... But no I've been shooting this one for decades, it was a gift from my father. I'll get round to the internals sometime but it has to keep its 'patina' for now it gets just enough pellets to keep it in shape, surrounded by lgu tx200 hw77 and much earlier BSA club models. Yeah I'm an underlever freak 😂
