There is some hidden machine between the two. Great illusion, kudos! 5:06 -> The joke about breaking his legs tricks them into tying a silly knot. Just a slight twist of both hands would loosen knot around the wrist.

At 0:37, it is clearly evident that the backrest is split like a door and the girl is hiding behind it. When the magician puts curtain, she just comes out of the backrest and sits on the chair. At 0:36, we can see that the magicians right leg has a large flap of clothing hanging over it which is not there on the other leg. This is to hide the lift mechanism's base when he lifts the girl. The lift is foot operated as can be seen at 2:08 where he is controlling it with his right foot. At 2:10 the platform on which the girl is lying is visible when he rotates her. At 2:17 the lift on which she is lying is clearly visible behind the magician's left underam and it is white in colour. At 2:55 it is visible that the base of the fan stand is not flat and it has space. And that is where the magician and assistant hide when the curtains are pulled up. That is also why at 3:33 when the magician pulls up his hand to cover the his head is bent downward as he is looking to rush into the bottom section before the curtain is sucked into the fan. While we can easily decode most of the magician's tricks, the beauty of these guys is to pull these off with so many people watching it live. Respect!!
