Hey Kyle, the reason why there is a letter on the ring that needs to face up is because there is a small chamfer on the inside ringdiameter. This chamfer deflects the force from the combustion from only downwards to a small portion outwards, so the ring is pushing itself more against the bore, creating a better seal. Hey just FYI, a lot of us DSM guys run fel-pro head gaskets, me included. With head studs and proper installation there good for 25-28psi, I run 24psi daily. Plus the composite head gaskets are more forgiving on the deck surface not being exactly flat, which I'm sure you already knew. But he'll be fine.

I had 11.0:1 nippon pistons and scat rods in my gsr on 8lbs @298whp on 91 and detonated it and melted a piston and scored the cylinder wall 3hrs after the dyno. Pretty sure it was the tuner because he thought nippons were forged and it wasnt my usual tuner and i just needed something to run on at the time. Now i bought a darton sleeved b20 block and transfering everything over and using wiseco 10.5:1 forged pistons this time and upping the boost on E85 on the dyno next week. #lessonlearned #sticktoyourtuner
