Glad to see more reviews of this controller. When I was shopping for one about a month back, there weren't many reviews for the B1 and mini, so I ended up getting a Snack Box Micro instead since it was generally recommended. If you end up getting a mini, it'd be cool to see a review of it.

Mini seems to similar except size to test tbh. Looks great tho and portable. I’m live rn testing out an rtu hitbox that is the same size and similar buttons to the mini if you want to ask questions.

Mine just arrived today. One thing that should be mentioned is their customer service is good - replied within 24 hours and helped me change my order to the D1 after ordering an F1.

Nice! Yes their customer service did respond very quickly to my issues as well. They offered to send me a replacement board since i showed them that it kept disconnecting every time i wiggled the wire, turned out it was just a bad cable tho, their stock cable isn’t the greatest and was loose i would deff recommend getting a better cable!

Regarding the types of switches, I've used Crown 202s in the past with their default Cherry MX Silvers and found that they were too sensitive; while playing you can't rest your fingers on the buttons much or you'll encounter inadvertent inputs. Obviously it's all a matter of getting used to it, but the default Cherry MX Blacks the Fightbox comes with are actually alright for fightsticks. I find them too heavy for my keyboards and normal everyday typing, but they're gonna be great for fighting games where buttons are pressed with much more deliberate force and speed.

I was gifted one of these and I’m still over the moon with it. Amazing quality. My only complaint is the sharpness of the plexi for the edge of the frame of the box and the sharpness for the hoisting of each button. Resting my wrist leaves cut marks or me, and I’ve scratched my finger tips on the button hoisting quite a few times. I wonder if mine is just cut poorly.

THANK YOU FOR THE DETAILED REVIEW!! I have a B1 all-black version (I personally didnt care about putting my own art as this is my first leverless) in the process of being shipped to me right now. I did get the PS5-compatible one but they had it on sale for $279.99, and while that is kinda steep, I had about $300 put aside to get a leverless controller for SF6, and I COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ELSE IN STOCK. Not only could I not find a HitBox or SnackBox that was in stock, but I also couldn't find a Wingman FGC PS5 version, and I primarily play SF6 on my PS5 and I like to go to conventions so I needed PS4 and PS5 compatibility out the box, so I didn't mind paying a little extra. Now that SOMEONE has done a detailed review, I'm actually very excited for it to get here, so thanks!!

@FrankieJPlays Cool. Yeah I'm excited to try one that feels more like keyboard presses than button presses. I got one of those RetroArcadeCrafts super cheap $60 PC-only leverless controllers to use on my ROG Ally when docked3rd just to try to get used to it while I wait for the B1 to get here, and I noticed that on arcade-style buttons, it's a bit stiff. Now i know they're not Sanwas but I just feel that regular arcade style buttons take a bit more force to actuate than keyboard switches, and my fingers ended up kinda hurting from how hard and often I had to press them.

I'm usually typing on a mechanical keyboard, so the amount of force needed to actuate the buttons is actually fine for me, but I wouldn't mind swapping them out for something that's a little faster since they're so easy to replace.

Good review. Have you noticed any latency on this PC version? It uses a Zero Delay Arcade USB Encoder instead of a Brook Board, which has some mixed feedback/reviews from what I've seen online, and that's my biggest hesitation from buying the PC version.

Nop no issues at all. It must depend on manufacturer and software it uses. Many chinese cheaper ones use it to and it may have something to do with that. Neither this or when i had the f1 did i encounter lag or anything. Will be testing a RTU hitbox starting sunday which uses a raspberry pi pico as the board. Will see if i notice a difference.

I play most of my games on pc so i can’t tell you for mk1. However there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work for for any fighting game on ps5.

@@renok5012 itll work, these are mot officially licensed controllers so don’t expect them to be on any list. Same thing with all the other leverless budget controllers i have reviewed. You will obviously only see things that are licensed like the kitsune or kwanba controllers with the exception of brook fighting boards.

Firstly, this is such a great, well made and helpful video! I'm going to get the Brook Wingman FGC, so are you saying it would be better (and cheaper overall) to get the B1-PC rather than the PS4 version (which is more expensive)? I don't have a PS4 anymore - I will be playing on my PS5 (and sometimes on PC). Just wanted to get your thoughts on this. As a second question, is there much of an advatage to owning the F1 PC version over the B1-PC? I don't see myself trying to mod or fix anything in the future so I don't think the F1 would be that different for me. I'm pretty much just going to be buying this and using it as it is (although I may customise the buttons down the line but that's not a guarantee).

It is the cheaper route, the only advantages of the f1 are what i mentioned aka the upgradability. The other thing is preference to sanwa buttons over keyboard style buttons

The B1-PC has (from left to right): Home, Mode, R3, L3, Start and Select. But the B1-PS4 has Home, Option, Share, Touchpad, R3 and L3 which is of course very different to the B1-PC's 6 buttons. So when you use this on the PS5 with the Wingman FGC, what are the functions of those 6 buttons?

i have a b1 but something is fucked up with it and i have to remap it with joytokey and use a hardware device firewall to make it work properly. also the keycaps arent standard sized so if u wanna print some keycaps thats fit correctly it’s a pain. otherwise it’s really neat, and im very happy with it! Ive used it for about 300 hours.

You emailed them? I email them and they respond within a day tops. They are based in china i believe. However if you ask them nicely and send them a pic or video just ask for a replacement clear top or if you really want a white one again.

If the board looks different then it has to be a brook board since that’s the only other option they have. If it’s a brook board you gotta download the brook software from the brook site. That is a very easy board to upgrade i think you just plug it in if i remember correctly.

I'm still waiting for a WiFi affordable board that's not 80 euros to build a new stick(less). So far it's only been around a decade. Am I the only one that just likes wireless? I know brook exists, but c'mon with shipping and all its like 100 euros, I can't justify that price just for wireless, and I also don't want it wired as idk I'm ocd or smth. I think brook needs more competition, the 2040ce is a great step, but they are not working on wireless so I guess I'll wait another decade while using my sf4 te R2...

@@FrankieJPlays I think it's just a niche so there's very little selection in general. Look at how many non viewlix and ergonomic layouts most brands make.. Almost none. Anyone that has any ergonomic training can look at the angles of the wrists of viewlix and just their face is going to tell you everything. Lots of people in 30s complain about wrist issues because these things have never been thought in the same ergonomic or feature way as almost any other peripheral. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore fighting games, they're up with arena shooters for my all time fav. But hardware wise we're still stuck in 1980s

My guy, you are comparing apples to oranges. Bfg is a gaming controller, yes it has a layout to put 6 buttons for fighting games but it’s still a gaming controller. Great review but I just want to ask peoples control layout for PC keyboard so I can somehow test the control scheme of the Hitbox if the Hitbox control layout is for me. What are the keys you use on keyboard to emulate Hitbox layout?

i dont see why this controller costs so much... can someone enlighten me because from where i'm standing it's just a platform with buttons on it... keyboards cost less yeck even gaming controllers with many more features cost less... i wanna get a leverless controller but they are just too expensive for what they are

You could build one yourself with a respberry pico for like $40 plenty of tutorials. There is also the rac j500b for around $60.

@@FrankieJPlays I’ve got some gazzew boba linear thock switches as well as some gazzew boba u4ts (but I don’t think tactile switches would be good for this application.) I might also still have some gateron milky yellow linears around here somewhere.

All depends on location, mine took about a week. I know some sellers have it on amazon sometimes and that might be quick if you have prime.

@@hojo1693 got the b1-pc from their website and got it in a week but i am in NY. Got the f1-pc from amazon and got it in 2 days with prime (returned it). If you go to check out im sure it tells you how long it is estimated. Right now they might still be having backorders like i mentioned in the video which would add delay. Best of to try contact them.

I hope you are not stating that normal ds4 /ds5 controllers are fair compared to hitboxes? You can break socd rules with controller since you can use dpad and analog stick at the same time. I actually think controller is more broken and many people agree even pros.
