Yes but the girl is portrayed as desirable because the song is about a guy who wants to be with *insert desirable girl.* it baffles me as well as many others why they chose an ugly girl for this music video since you'd assume that the girl that the guy wants to get back with so badly would be a very pretty and/or intelligent girl; it is very hard to assume that she is an intelligent person if there's no real dialogue other than song lyrics. That is why we all keep saying "omg she's so ugly!" because the song as well the music video sets us up to expect a good looking person since all five boys (well, I'm assuming they all represent one person, which is the ex-boyfriend of that girl) want her so badly (like I've said a billion times.)

No, what I'm saying is that guys want a DESIRABLE girl, whether it's her personality, looks, intelligence, etc. that make her desirable, the only thing that we can really SEE about this girl in the music video is her looks. Can you REALLY say that she's a caring person or a funny person or a smart person based off of this music video? No lol. So it makes us wonder why they chose her for this music video if she isn't super good looking. YOU may like that they picked a "normal" girl for the music video, but again it's baffling that they picked her since we don't know anything about her other than her looks, and she's supposedly the girl that the guy "wants so bad." It makes us wonder "why does he like her anyways?" And again, before you say that "she may have a nice personality," well, we can't know that, there isn't even a scene of dialogue before the music video starts. And AGAIN it's a music video. In real life, sure, some guys like girls even if there's nothing special about them, but in a music video, that would be a pretty boring story: "guy chases after average looking girl with a boring personality." There has to be something about the girl that makes the music video "a good story." And if they throw an ugly (ahem, "normal"-- but most of us happen to think she's unattractive) that we know nothing about, then of course we're going to point that out her looks... not necessarily because we think that this girl is going to read our comments and feel bad about herself, but because adding a girl, that has nothing special about her, into a music video where she is supposedly desirable, is a production flaw.
