I am glad I got to see this thing take off twice in my life, once in 2005, and again in 2006. 2006 was the very first airshow I attended in Abbotsford, and while we were parking, The B-1B was getting ready to taxi out for takeoff.

I was at Dyess when they first came out. We nicknames it the HAWK(Holiday And Weekend Killer) because it had so many teething problems. It was also nicknamed Blue Thunder. When it took off at night and lit the afterburners there was about a 20 flame out the back. I lived a mile from the north end of the runway.

When I was a fueler back home @ Honolulu Inter., 4 B1's coming out of Hickham AFB taxied by me while I was waiting for my next plane to gas up. When I saw them cruise by I drove my truck as close to the runway as possible. Taking off with full burners, sitting about 300 ft away was freakin' AWESOME!!!!!!! The truck shook, my insides shook, my Coke can shook off the dash board, and car alarms inside the parking lot was going off! Watching the video brought back memories. FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

The most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life was a fly over by 2 B-1's at a Winston Cup race in Loudon NH....they came in like two big slugs, struggling to stay airborne until they got about 100 yards from the track and punched it straight up into the blue sky. I thought my heart was going to stop, it was unreal!

So awesome! Thanks for posting this! I saw one on static display years ago at an airshow at Loring AFB, when it was still so secret it was cordoned off & protected by very serious USAF personnel with their fingers on their triggers & equally serious guard dogs beside them, but never saw one fly :( Now I HAVE to see one in the air!!

Still one of my most vivid memories in the air force was working an exercise on the flight line when one of these badass machines went screaming overhead low with bomb bay doors open. Knowing the purpose of the exercise was base defence by the f15's, I had to chuckle knowing that one snuck through the net. Not to mention the air raid sirens didn't go off until after they made their bomb run on the flight line, I had to tip my hat to that crew that day.

As a kid, I grew up around these at McConnell AFB Wichita. This video fore not do the B-1justice. A standard takeoff without after burner would have every car alarm going off for miles from the air strip. They said its noise was the equivalent of 4 F4s in afterburner. One lost an engine training in Colorado and they didn't even know it fell off the plane. Just a fire light. That thig is a beast.

When these were stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas they would have 'Afterburner Nights' every third Thursday of the month, and you could witness this from the old Wichita Airport, now an aviation museum. They really put on a show, and you could actually get very close to the runways to watch these incredible aircraft. When these things flew by...man...if you haven't witnessed it up close and personal, put it on your "bucket list", as it is well worth the experience. Grown men weep, women spontaneously orgasm, and cries of "God Bless America!" will spring from your lips without thought! I didn't miss too many shows, I only wish they were back in Wichita.

I recall seeing these when they were new, circa 1981. Their low flying capability was breathtaking then, The Soviets developed a "look down shoot down" radar system to contend with them. These planes were cutting-edge at one time. They still can kick ass - fly right over the poles and ruin some A-holes day.

This flew over the Texas Rangers opening game. I was in the parking lot playing some beer pong and this shit was sooooo loud. Ive seen many fighter jet flyovers, and B-52 flyovers and this one was far superior to any other flyover I've seen. My favorite Fighter Jet is the JSF. They are test flying them right now. awesome to see in the sky

The loudest, most powerful aircraft I have ever heard and thats coming from someone in aviation for 20+ years. A B1 did a low pass on its way to a nearby airshow. He was dirtied up.slow and then kicked in full burners. I could feel my organs rattling. It set off car and hanger alarms for a good 1/2 mile and broke glass at the Fbo.

I the current engines were variant from the F14, F15 and produce a max thrust of 30,000 with afterburner. The new engines for the F35 have a variant in testing that puts out 50,000!! No plans that I've heard of to re-engine the plane as of yet. I think they gonna call it the B-3. The latest upgrades on the B1B involve digital flightdecks, Link16 digital networking, pinpoint targeting capability, and multiple ejector racks to be able to deploy 3 times as many smaller JDAMS.

I remember a few years back I was surfing at Fort Lauderdale beach (during an air show) and I remember looking north (the direction the aircraft were mainly coming from) and I see this black spec, looks like it’s not moving. Then I notice it’s the B-1 Bomber (demon-bitch, sexy, with claws) and the feeling of this thing going by at a hundred feet or so gave me a memory I’ll never EVER forget. The force, the power, that this thing created was better than sex…trust me!

the b-1 is super sonic capable but by law in most areas your are not aloud to break the sound barrier. the loop hole in this law is that you can fly 1mph under the sound barrier and still be legal. the vapor at the end was caused when the plane was extremely close to breaking the sound barrier and high humidity

No mate, I`m not. Its in the B1 post but if you read the post history I'm just singing its praises as an agile, VERY AGILE 50 ton bomber! I was comparing it really to the B52 which is a truck by comparison. Some Americans see that as blasphemy as they cant see past their own noses. I ask you to fully view some of the Vulcan vids on here and then tell me its not a thing of beauty and also an amazingly maneuverable piece of Brit engineering. 30 yrs separate the Vulcan and the B1 . PS, CHEERS!

the "copy" of the F-15 would be the su-27, su-35 is a modern version of the 27, but the 27 was the threat at the time, its what spawned the ATF program which led too the F-22, all stealth aircraft will look somewhat like a f-22, that's what makes them stealth, that particular shape allows for small rcs, not really a copy just how there built.

why people can not see a cloud of compression due to high humidity in the air without saying that a plane is breaking the sound barrier? in this show took videos of a B-52 on a pass low and fast, as I lift the nose are visible clouds above on wings, the b-52 is not supersonic, the b-1 if it is, but here is not broke the sound barrier

Greatest fighter of WW2 was the P-51, and it's nothing like anything the Germans had flying. Werner von Braun's designs weren't stolen if he came along with them. And he got his rocket ideas from Robert H. Goddard. The Apache was a refinement of our Cobra gunships, which were the original of this type of helicopter. And don't forget, rockets & aircraft were first invented and flown here.
