Hey, great content! I'm looking forward to see your developments. What adapter would you recommend for fx30?
@jamesandcamera5 ай бұрын
Thanks for finding it useful 😊 For an FX30 either the IBE HDx35 adapter if you have a few $k or the one I put together and use in the corrected footage in these tests, which is more affordable. If you had heaps of budget to Sony LA-EB1 may also work, but is technically only listed as working with the FS7. I may be biased to the one I put together and sell but I think it does just as well in terms of image quality at a fraction of the cost.

Hey Rafael, B4-PL mount adapters are your only option with the XT. I don't make ones in PL unfortunately, so not really any affordable options. The only options in PL I recommend for quality optical correction are the IBE and the Arri one. Hope that helps 😊🤙

Thank you so much for this video. It gives me hope that I can find a semi-affordable setup to actually make B4 lenses look good on cameras with larger sensors. So much of the test footage on KZbin is without optically correcting adapters and it made me sad when I saw it. 😂

Yeah, same. There is also a lot of mis-information out there. Which is why I made these videos and put together a more affordable corrected adapter for people like myself who can't afford $3000-9000 for a corrective adapter.

Hi James, thank you for your channel. I use a Sony FS7-M2 but would love to get back to my Canon HD HJ22eX7.7IRSE lens. I am currently using the Sony LA-EB1 B4 adapter, but the image isn't as sharp as the examples you have shown. I would love to connect and talk about your adapter.

Hey David, my email is in the about section of this channel. I would be very interested to see the image quality you are getting with the LA-EB1, I assumed it would have been better than this adapter being 8x the price.

Do you have a recommendation for the Blackmagic Micro Studio 4K G2? I'm looking for a longer zoom type, in low light, for wildlife. Thank you for your suggestions.
@jamesandcamera2 ай бұрын
Not sure for the 4K G2, it is a little trickier as it has a MFT sensor rather than the S16 in the older models. For lens, a Canon J21x7.8 would work well on a budget paired with a corrective adapters. If you have higher budget and can live with a heavy lens, there is currently a Canon J33x15 floating around on eBay for sale for a great price. It's heavy, but has an insane zoom ratio. Again optical corrector recommended. Otherwise HJ17x7.6 and HJ22x lenses are much more expencive but higher quality over all. Again optical corrector required for best results. Any B4 lens uncorrected will be soft due to uncorrected RGB offset causing spherical aberations.

@jamesandcamera4 ай бұрын
No adapter exists for full frame cameras, as it would make the exposure quite dark with the approx 4.5x image expansion/teleconverter required. Sorry, it is better to just use an actual FF zoom instead in your case.

is it possible to find out which technology you use, which lenses, to eliminate aberrations, I disassembled and redesigned b4 for a full frame and I think I would have coped with the task, the main thing is to know what to do) if you don't want the whole world to know about it, I can write to the mail
@jamesandcameraАй бұрын
It's not something I can share sorry. But the information is widely available that I used. With some research you could easily find it yourself. I wouldn't recommend expandinding to FF sensor coverage, it is not worth the light loss and becomes far more optically complex. The lenses base T-stop becomes a T11-T16 wide open because of all the light loss from expansion, which is not very useful. Aim for S16 or S35 coverage instead for better results.

Noob question: What does optical correcting adapter correct? I mean the conventional wisdom is that the less glass in between, the sharper it will get, especially the only thing we are trying to do, its to maintain the flange distance?

Looking for kind of the best all around with most zoom range and best image quality for around a thousand bucks or under. If using it on the first of broadcast G2 which adapters do you suggest for that system?
@jamesandcamera2 ай бұрын
For lens, it depends on the deals you can get. Any 16x or higher magnification lens would be best, as long as it has a doubler. Canon J16x8, Canon J21x7.8 are both good SD lenses. Otherwise a HJ17x7.6 is worth the extra investment if you can save for longer to have a higher budget for a HD lens. As far as adapter the Ursa Broadcast cams should have an optical corrector mount built in. If it doesn't and it is a normal Ursa mini, then you will need to determine which of the B4 mounts suits your cameras model code. It is listed where the mounts are sold.
