That big BUFF is something remarkable and the pride of the 2nd Bomb Wing and the United Air Force. I use to work and fly on the G models which is now something else, and that model (H) is the ones I use to work on at my first duty station. That bird didn't come from Barksdale, but Minot AFB and that was my first duty station after leaving tech school.

If anyone wants to see what "Death is From Above" watch this. I spent 12 years crewing B52G. This is an H model.Brings back many fond memories.

kenskip1 My dad was stationed at Dyess after Vietnam and worked on these back in the old days. I think he would have stayed in the AF until he was 90 years old if he could lol.

+kenskip 1 Good grief! This plane was old when I was discharged in 1972! Thank you for your service to this country. From a former SSgt, USAF 1968-1972 379th BW SAC
@badguy14816 жыл бұрын
My one "claim to fame". I may be one the ONLY Air Force pilots to both FLY the B-52 and be bombed by one. In 1972, I flew a MUCH smaller aircraft at a MUCH lower altitude than the B-52's dropping bombs in Vietnam. You can guess the rest.................

whilst working on a roof at the end of the Fairford UK runway... one of the BUFF's went over my head so low that if I reached up I could have wiped the pilots ass as he flew by..... made me shit myself..... so loud ....and the stink of burnt fuel.....

@9johnpaul8 жыл бұрын
aircraft have thrust reverser which when deployed directs the air out the front of the engine thus slowing the plane. Read where to save weight the wheels and brakes were smaller and lighter and overall not the best,and the drogue shute was cheaper.
@9johnpaul8 жыл бұрын
Read where some older aircraft have used them,but better makeup of brakes and the use of thrust reversers.Plus to use a shute would add extra weight and need a human to pack it aftyer every flight.
