The only reason boss that actually poses a threat.
Rules:
- EXP gain must be minimised, limited to forced encounters where possible
- Using Bright Might or Dark Might for guaranteed crits is forbidden
- Use of demons from the Maniax/Chronicle release is forbidden (This includes Fiends, Beelzebub, Black Frost, Futomimi, Metatron, Sakahagi and Dante/Raidou)
- The goal is to collect all Magatama and achieve the True Demon Ending
Baal Avatar can be either the easiest reason boss or the hardest depending on how much you want to abuse her AI. By herself she has no buff removal and only 13000 health. When she drops below 6500 health for the first time she will cast Divine Will to summon Ose Hallel and Flauros Hallel (who are cool as hell and its a shame they haven't appeared again outside of Imagine and Dx2). After this Ose will cast Diarahan on her and then things will get much more challenging. You can skip this phase by leaving her with over 6500 health and then doing that much in one turn which isn't actually that hard at this stage in the game. I personally don't like doing this because it cheapens the fight.
Ose and Flauros between them possess excellent buff removal, strong physical attacks, both wall skills and magic of all elements. It can be very difficult to survive against them if they don't waste their turns somehow. Thankfully Baal Avatar herself has both Mahamaon and Holy Wrath which are more easy to prepare for. Baal Avatar's main unique skill is Bael's Bane which transforms the target into a fly, reducing their stats significantly and making them weak to light. Thankfully this skill is considered a curse attack and so having Null Curse on your whole party allows it to be negated. At this level both Suparna and Lakshmi are available and they are both naturally immune to all ailments. Cu Chulainn is my last team member as he possesses Null Curse. As long as I use Tetraja Stones the only was Baal Avatar can hurt my team is with her normal attack (which hurts a lot when you don't have any buffs up) and Megidola. Ose must be prioritised as he possesses Dragon Eye and Dekunda which Flauros does not. Once he is dead the remaining two are much more manageable and by the time Flauros has been defeated the battle is practically over as you are once again free to buff up to the max. At this point Baal Avatar will cast Beast Eye every turn but it barely matters.
This was actually a lot harder than I anticipated, giving Baal Avatar and her entourage another turn on top of this would make it extremely difficult to survive even non-Dragon Eye turns. It would mostly be dependant on Baal Avatar throwing the turns away with light attacks and I'd rather not get hung up here when I'm so close to the end. It wouldn't look that different from this anyway.
