I really dig the water splash effect. Level design gives me a Clash at Demonhead vibe a bit, too. Very nice.

I love that level music!

I agree. It's really good, but I didn't make it. It's the NESmaker tutorial music.

I wish I knew how to do that water splash and bubbles. It looks great.

This is awesome I'm trying to make something like this. Do you remember which specific tutorial/s you used? The water looks amazing btw
@baardbi3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. FYI, this was made in an older version of NESmaker (4.1.5). But it id quite similar in the current version. I have watced most of Joe's tutorials, but for this one I watched the one for platform games. You should probably watch the tutorials for arcade style platformers and scrolling platformers. BTW, the water effect is a custom thing I made. I did a tutorial on it. It's on the NESmaker forum.

How well will it run on the NES? Ive been thinking of making one but dont really know assembler.
@baardbi3 жыл бұрын
It runs perfectly on the NES. This game was made in NESmaker. If you use that, you don't have to know how to program in assembly (at least not in the beginning).

when you make a nes game you need to think like nintendo! you don't make a random place without a purpose! in super mario everything had it's purpose it was planned and planted carefully! from goombas to warp pipes to invincible stars to saving the princess! that's what makes a great game! Here are 10 things wrong with this demo! 1. no swim animation 2. empty and waste of space and or areas that do nothing. 3. enemies do nothing or can't hurt you what the point? at least the goombas did something and everyone has gotten killed by one of them at some point and all they do is walk! 4. music is catchy but those not fit well with the scenery it's too happy! try something more boring cause that's what it feels like at first it complimentary! 5. who is this character and why should I care or invest time with it? this is the mentally of todays audience! 6. enemies do not make sense for the environment there in! you got slimes instead of something new and original! like goombas. 7. your character actually has life stocks! what's with all those hearts? 8. I know it's a demo but it's your first game and first impressions, so make the demo more engaging and not show off the first things you made in the game! 9. the main character player is wearing a black suit on what seems to be a very nice day! I like to know why? 10. why would you put a weapon at almost the end or middle of the game? your making people walk all the way to the end so they can shoot at enemies that do nothing to you, why bother? just finish the stage instead. and it shoots straight, boring! in super mario the you get the fire ball and it bounces around hitting anything especially small enemies! that are impossible to hit with straight bullets! also it was an original weapon design! not a gun but a flower! makes you question things for first timers! what is this flower? what those it do? is it good or bad? but ones you get it all makes sense!

It's a DEMO after 3 days of fooling around with the software. It's clearly not done. Nobody asked you.
@bababooey54022 жыл бұрын
1. Not even Nintendo is perfect. 2. THIS IS A DEMO VERY OBVIOUSLY NOT FINISHED AND YOU'RE JUDGING IT LIKE IT'S A TRIPLE A GAME. 3. Many indie developers have found ways to make their games fun that *isn't* 100% following this line of thinking.
@artmanstudios70372 жыл бұрын
@@bababooey5402 this isn't a real demo, from what I see! seems more like something that was worked on and just thrown out just because! more like a test run than an actual demo. a demo should be consistent and demonstrate the idea across. tell me or us why we should care about this? don't just play a test game during the development of the game and call it a demo! this don't even have a title screen! you don't have to be perfect that's what i'm getting at! nintendo has shown us time after time that you don't need special graphics or fancy hardware to make great and or outstanding games! so far the only thing I fancy here is the catchy tune that matches with the character and or it's walk cycle! other than that it's just plain and nothing else. so consider what i said as tips and or my opinionated flaws of what I thing is missing from the game.
@bababooey54022 жыл бұрын
@@artmanstudios7037 Okay, correction: it's not really a demo, it's a preview of their current work. I admit, I fucked up. But you're the one who also called it a demo, which it *technically* is, but still. You're judging a WIP that only has 3 days of work on it as if this is what they envisioned the game to be like the entire time. I think they *know* that it's far too boring in its current state.
@artmanstudios70372 жыл бұрын
@@bababooey5402 no they fcked up on it cause they shouldn't have released something out when is not even done or to the point they have envisioned it. I only called it a demo because what else can you call it? But if you want i can call it a play test. In either case it just not ready for it to be a demo!
