Janet Jackson music videos, from the late 80's until the early 2000's, are consistently well produced and thought provoking, and played endlessly on MTV, which most young adults in America were watching. The video for Got til It's Gone is brilliant, one of the best music videos ever. The Jacksons generally give you your money's worth

Please stop comparing her to Michael. to work under the same strict man that is your father, to be put under the same grueling training to be pop stars. since the Jacksons, he pushed all his kids to be artists, this is JANET, SHE DESERVES HER OWN NAME. She has earned it for being the artist she is. she has made herself known by her work. I can distinguish the differences. but they are connected by more than one string. ( siblings, trained under same person, lived same childhood experiences, and both strived hard to get out from under their father's grip.) PUT SOME RESPECT ON HER FUCKING NAME! I have been a part of Rhythm Nation since 89! i was 7. Janet was my best friend. (in my head) and I only watched this video because it had Janet on it I liked up, don't compare the queen of pop to the king of pop, though its obvious talent runs in their blood.

Michael was actually gonna do the Military aesthetic for “Captain EO” but Janet asked if she can steal it. Michael said “I could choke you” 😂

1:55 i knew you would say this. I mean the janet influence was crazy on michael's dangerous and history albums moreso. He was extremely inspired by the industrial sound of his sister with producers, Jimmy and terry lewis

@ 1:55 Actually it was Michael who went on to say that he wished he'd thought of this first. She was the first pop artist to do "social/political" music when this was released in 1989, and then Michael started doing it in the early 90's.

If you had asked us ladies of the 80’s and 90’s, Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul were our perfect 10 standards. High quality, beautiful faces, perfect curves, multi-talented in music and dance, creative ambition, hard working, moral intelligence, inspirational and influential, the whole package. Yes, we wanted to be them, especially considering many of us girls were taking or had already taken tap, ballet, gymnastics, dance, aerobics and martial arts classes over summer breaks (form, precision, rhythm, flexibility, style, commitment). They are a part of our dancing spirit animals. It sure beat what the young people are doing today in developing a more rounded and grounded young lady, imo. I can’t imagine anyone actually wanting to be more like Minaj or Cyrus, but if so, we are failing our little girls miserably.
