I've deep fried two turkeys and it has been way way way easier than the oven and tastes way better. All you have to do is thaw the fucker and make sure it's not wet at all. It's way way way easier than people think.

If you have to deep fry a turkey, I suggest you watch the Good Eats episode on the topic. Alton Brown shows how to do it safely.

Actually, the last part one, that actually depends on your can opener type. There are 2 types of can opener and they have their own way of opening the can. You may want to check out their recommended usage from their user manual, but the easy way to distinguished is that if the can opener has a rotary blade, it is likely a side lid can opener, and if the blade is a normal blade sticking out, it's a top lid can opener. So, the last one is 'legit' if your can opener has a rotary blade, as it was design so. Oh, a new tip: Just remove the paper label from the tin if you are using side lid can opener so you don't have to deal with paper problem.

The "instant dolce de leche" hack can be done safely all the time...just LOW BOIL your cans of sweetened condensed milk, sure it will take a few minutes longer to cook but I'm sure Gordon Ramsay would agree with me when I say, "good food takes time, they're no shortcuts" and also Gordon Ramsay would agree with me when I say "the ideal of cooking salmon in a DISHWASHER is ridiculous!"
@theocoxd3 жыл бұрын
My 64 year old dad used to do it when we, me and my 2 siblings, were children. He got the condensed milk, washed the can to remove all the glue remains and throw inside the pot with the beans we were eating, for 4 hours. Low heat, just removing the can and cooling it before we got spread over our bolillo (some local type of baggette bread) and a glass of chocolate milk for dinner.

Rules for deep fried Turkey: Fryer is outdoors, 15+ feet from buildings. Turkey MUST be completely thawed. A neighbor and good friend cooks his Turkey this way every year without incident. Other rules apply.

Since I’m from Colombia we call the dulce de leche Arequipe, I have made Arequipe for years, and my dad has made it for like 40+ yrs hack before it was a hack, I have never encounter any problems at all, now the garlic hack never seen it before and in culinary school I’ve learned a safe and knife-less try: grab all the bulb you need for recipe, place them on counter then place a cutting board on top and with some force no need to slam the garlic,

Deep fried turkey is not a 'hack.' It's a method with rules and procedures just like any other. Follow the rules and there's almost no risk. Also, you should have mentioned the running water defrosting technique.
