If you need 'space' just go further down past the onscreen characters into the blank area, this will let you add space, not intuitive I know but it works.

Its easy to mix up these WD-TVs you really need to pay attention to the model numbers. I bought one from newegg Called "WD TV PLay" (WDBMBA0000NBK) for a decent price, but the model number was slightly different, and when I researched it discovered it doesn't support DTS or Mpeg4 audio. Most of my movies have DTS audio.. So it's basically collecting dust in my bedroom.

Really like the part when u described about how unresponsive the controls are, especially youtube. If only wd can make the response as 'snappy' as a phone that does'nt lag, it'd be one of the best media players out there. PS. Have been using a wd player from waay back, which is now slow as heck

+Dave Smith ever had any issues? Im thinking whether to pick this up for myself to make it that little bit easier to watch my movies off a hard drive as I use Plex at the minute on a 2013 LG smart tv but its a tad laggy and behind to what we have today.

+Rizzy786 I can honestly say i have had no problems with this device it plays every file type ive thrown at it. I have media stored on a WD My cloud 3Tb unit which the box recognises automatically. I also have a Synology DS115 with a 4TB WD Red Drive installed which connects to it. There are multiple options for getting files to the unit. The best £70 ive spent on a media unit.

Great review ! I actually have a WDTV Live from 2012, but it really takes time to boot when powered on. Was it a problem with the 2014 version? I got a couple of problems so far and I'm wondering if they'd be clean with the newer version. Sometime for no reason the sound in my speakers goes wild, long booting issues, and sometime when it is on it won't read any of my files and I have to reset the box itself... and it does not always work the first time !! Why do they have to put those crappy streaming sh*t on these box, all I want is a box that can read my hd movie collection and man it seems so hard to find the one that can do that without bugs :(((

I bought and use mine in the US. Mine has netflix app?? Works fine. I heard this is the Euro version of the 2012 one that was sold in the us. Seems to look identical except for tyhe model number and its a bit more stable but a tiny bit slower. Maybe the euro boxes have a problem with netflix unless there setup in the US.

What is the best alternative? Are you still using yours or something else? Has there been any firmware updates that have fixed the bugs mentioned in the video. In the Uk I believe this has the bbc iplayer which Id like to know about if anyone can answer.

There_is_a_way_to_space_when_typing_on_the_WDTV_Media_Player. Now if I could only figure out how to bring up News Feed, Photos, Friends, etc. after I log on to Facebook. I'm sure it must be easy, but so far it has escaped me.

What is their beef with Netflix. Without it all they have worth watching is Hulu. I have the old version and the only reason I still use it is because I can watch DVDs with menus intact and Blu Rays ripped to MKV stored on an external hard drive.

These boxes have a 2032 battery on the board inside. Change this battery one a year and your box will perform much better.

+Aditya Kumar Honestly I don't recommend either one that much. The 2014 model certainly has an updated interface but is still buggy and tends to slow down at times. I personally use the media player built-in my smart TV.

esta es la mayor mierda que compre,... parece mi televisor sony del 2005.. ni siquiera tiene netflix y gaste como 150 dolares para estar pasando peliculas de mi pc a un pen de 32 gb que me costo como 50 dolares y asi utilizar mi WDTV 2015 lo logico es llevar mi notebook y conectarlo por hdmi asique como 200 usd tirados a la basura por esta mierda que compre sin haber leido bien los review!
