This video discusses Babesia, a parasite that causes the disease known as babesiosis. Babesia is often transmitted through tick bites, just like Lyme disease. Babesia infection can lead to various symptoms, including fatigue, fever, and anemia, as the parasite attacks red blood cells. Understanding how to diagnose and treat Babesia is crucial, especially since it can be co-infected with Lyme disease.
We explore signs of Babesia infection, including flu-like symptoms and more severe effects in those with weakened immune systems. Proper diagnosis usually involves blood tests, including Babesia-specific tests that identify the presence of the parasite. The video also highlights different strains, like Babesia microti, Babesia duncani, and Babesia gibsoni, which are commonly found in other regions.
In terms of treatment, Babesia requires medications like atovaquone and azithromycin, often in combination. Depending on the severity of the infection, some cases might need more intensive therapy. We also discuss the importance of recognizing Babesia early to prevent long-term health complications.
This informative session explains how babesiosis is treated and diagnosed and what symptoms to watch out for if you’ve been bitten by a tick. Awareness of Babesia is vital for timely treatment and avoiding more serious health issues caused by this parasite.

I just lost my brother from babeziosis. He said at emergency room to check for tick illness. One hospital never checked. A month prior he went to emergency room with congested heart failure was treated and released. A week ago in hospital again and tick illness was detected, treated for lyme. Then discovered with further testing he had babeziosis. Liver disease jaundice and finally kidney failure put him in a very bad state. Dialysis was done and his life ended shortly afterwards. Do not underestimate the serious issues of this sickness. More research should be done and more awareness should be made ❤

Thank you, Dr. Cameron, for your continued efforts to learn and teach about this! I have live Babesia Mycroti, Bartonella, and several infections that resurfaced. I’ve been sick for 20 years from different toxin-based illnesses. I got much better, moved here, and was bitten by another tick, which put me in a tailspin of overlapping infections and viruses. I have a broken shoulder that isn’t healing because of lack of blood flow. I’m 69, but got Babesia in Rochester, MI, about 3 or 4 years ago. First, I was treated with Malerone and Azithromycin, and now I’m on herbal remedies. Please don’t stop your work! If you need a guinea pig, I’m available!!

@kali542 I should have thanked you before. So, thank you! I was told by my doctor that you can’t cure it, but you can get it into remission. It makes antibodies that, hopefully, lie dormant in your body, like Herpes Simplex or EBV, unless your immune system gets weakened again. I take vitamins like whole food C, probiotics, use a product called Agricept to kill any pathogens in my food products before I eat them. It’s hard and expensive, but I’ve been sick for 21 years from overlapping toxins. Good luck!!! I hope we can both beat this thing. My dizziness has gone away, but I’m extremely tired because I’m severely anemic and have low iron levels. I’m trying to fight this, but I find it hard to function because I’m extremely stressed and overwhelmed (my adult mentally disabled son has stolen my money), and I have horrible trauma from his physical abuse. He’s now in jail.

@@parenp9879 im in my late 60’s and the worst Lyme infection is Babesia which was alive in my body and brain. My doctor had never seen a live version before, and she’s been doing this for many years. It may be the Babesia that’s causing these symptoms. I experienced all those things for 2 years before I decided it may be Lyme, only because my adult son had it after mold toxicity. I tested positive for several infections. It’s horrific! When he gets treated, the die off feels like you have malaria: sweats. Shaking uncontrollably, shivers, hot/cold intolerance, fevers, appetite changes (But I’ve been on a gluten free, dairy free, etc. diet for about 7 or 8 years.), and flu-like feelings, plus headaches and pain.

Wow that is so weird to me that a hospital is treating Lyme disease! I live in Wisconsin and it is all hush hush. If I talk about it I am called crazy! The main stream doctors won't do anything about it. They are useless around where I live. They gave me ulcers that I had to heal myself since they said there was no cure! Lies! All lies!

You 100% just described exactly what I'm going through. I got here on my rabbit hole research journey because I'm 3 days into treatment for borrellia (amox) and as of last night I noticed petechiae on my torso. I'm so happy I stopped to watch this video because I go straight to the NIH or other trusted sources to read my face off. This was such a wonderful amount of information to continue to steer my learning. And I'm probably about to buy that book to give to the pcp who ignored my symptoms and didn't want to order my lyme test in the first place.

Is babesia a recurring parasite, much like malaria? I once had a Belgium friend who had fought in the Belgium Congo in the late 1950's he contracted malaria and even when I knew him in the 1970's he had bouts of malaria every once or twice a year. I'm asking because in 2021 I had babesia and was hospitalized for nearly a month. It was extremely difficult in recovering as I had to go through intense physical and occupational therapy to relearn basic movements and functions. Even today in 2024 I sometimes go through bouts lasting 12 to 24 hours of fever, sweats and headaches once or twice a year for no apparent reason. These events happen once or twice a year. I also read in research that babesia parasite stays within the human body forever after initial contract.

I got very sick from the liquid atovaquone but handle the combo pill well… but I’m in another flare of babesia, bartonella and borellia.. been treating since 2016. Every time I stop, within a few weeks to a few months symptoms always return. So discouraging. I finally got pathogens verified through Igenex.

I just had the panel done and Babesia has the highest marker along with EBV. I was tested 10 yrs ago with the standard Elisha/western blot. I think I got bit when I was a kid which has resulted in a cascade of other chronic illnesses starting with chronic tonsillitis. I also believe I passed onto my children, and will get them tested. They both have the same elevated liver and bilirubin issues I do (and NO it’s not Gilbert’s syndrome.) I had thyroid cancer, I have small fiber neuropathy and POTS, etc. I think it would be great if you mentioned how dangerous taking steroids, or getting injections is. I had a facet joint injection and it made all my symptoms flare really bad. I’m grateful in a way because it exposed it just as I got the test done but it’s really dangerous!
