Babette's Feast

The Heritage community comes together to prepare and serve a seven-course French dinner based on the meal made in the film Babette’s Feast. It was our hope through the beauty, serenity, and joy of the meal experienced by our guests to show a reflection of the feast we will one day enjoy in heaven. Furthermore, it was our desire that the love and dedication with which it was prepared would be a reflection of God’s love for us.

What's interesting to me is that in the movie, the artist is expressing her soul at the highest capacity she can entirely through a sense of gratitude. She isn't trying to create an atmosphere artificially- she's doing it for the purest of reasons and that is what impacts those at table. One of the most profound movies ever made.

The seven-course menu in the film consisted of: "Potage à la Tortue" (turtle soup) served with Amontillado sherry "Blinis Demidoff" (buckwheat pancakes with caviar and sour cream) served with Veuve Cliquot Champagne "Cailles en Sarcophage" (quail in puff pastry shell with foie gras and truffle sauce) served with Clos de Vougeot Pinot Noir an endive salad "Savarin au Rhum avec des Figues et Fruit Glacée" (rum sponge cake with figs and candied cherries) served with Champagne assorted cheeses and fruits served with Sauternes coffee with vieux marc Grande Champagne cognac. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babette%27s_Feast

The meals in Babettes Feast the film looked very small. I doubt anybody could be fed up with that.

It was all good until that black pickup truck appeared in a background shot. Was no one paying attention to details like this?

Seats are too close together. I never can figure out WHY ppl. think this is classy.

I believe that homes were small, especially the rooms with heat. And they wanted to accommodate the maximum number of possible friends. I have even seen this at outdoor family picnics when saw-horses and plywood served as tables...cram them all in. I think that class was trumped by practicality in many cases. This was a beautiful movie originally.
