Babolat Pure Drive 98 Tennis Racquet / Racket review

HOLY CATS! I just LOVE this racket. If you play and like the latest Pure Drive 100 you may like this even more! It is everything I was hoping for!... I've been playing the P.D 100 for quite a while, I love the easy power, big sweet spot, good spin and the big soft feel to each shot :- It is however a bit wild/uncontrolled at times and a touch unwieldy, so long term, unless you make yourself, you don't find yourself doing so many little touch shots etc. I was using Luxilon ALU Power at 52lbs but changed to Solinco Hyper G at 54lbs. I would recommend this set up on the 100, if you want a bit more control and crispness. However it still wasn't enough for me, so I ordered the 98, hoping for more control and maneuverability, and I was really hoping the launch angle and the power would be similar!!! It has exceeded all my expectations!! I just got it and have played a few times, with Luxilon ALU Power at 52lbs. Wow! It is a bit stiffer but it's not over muted or anything, I still like the feel, in fact maybe prefer it. It's maneuverable and really stable. You get nice touch with it and good spin AND AND AND, with ALU power at 52lbs I'd say it's at least as powerful if not more so than the 100 with Hyper G at 54lbs! Amazing! I'm in love! I'm just going to go and stroke it a little (the racket!!) while I watch Murray play Tsitsipas on centre court Wimbledon! Cammm onnnnnnn Andyyyyy! :)

Good review, funnily enough I actually did like the VS and still use it, I was using the head speed MP prior and much prefer the VS and do believe it is much better than the current pure drive mainly because of the added control and feel. I tried the pure strike before, felt good, felt like a powerful wilson, felt great on all the shots but felt horrible for the serve for some reason, it just didn't feel like the racket could go through the service motion well

Since you tried the 98 in the pure drive and dunlop , would you try a face-off between the 100 dunlop fx vs the babolat pure drive since the 100's seem to be better reviewed than tour models and 98's vsc100's ? Another option may be a face off , of the ezone 98 vs the pure drive 98 .

The previous one was unbelievably pingy, moved on very quickly. Seems like this one isn't exactly a step up. You're bang on that they already have a racket in the target market of power and control - the pure strike. Why they weren't courageous and try something like a 99 head and 18x20 to compete with something like the speed is beyond me
