FYI birds don't feel pain from capsaicin. I've had birds eat some mighty hot chilies with gusto.

Yep. This is the reason for treating birdseed and suet with capsaicin, to prevent squirrels from stealing it. Sometimes it’s not very effective though, I swear some of those rodents like it hot.
