Touching baby birds causing mom to reject is a myth. I’ve put many robins back in their nests - successfully. Very cool that you cared enough to try to help!

That's actually a common thing, the larger baby will either leave, or push the younger one out. Looks like this one chosed to leave, which sense it's not flying yet usually means death for it, unless it somehow learns to fly. It's the circle of life.

You did the right thing. Most likely, mama will come feed him/her. If not, I would call a wildlife rehabilitator.

Im pretty sure once you touch a baby bird or egg the mom will kill it
