The fancy nurseries and rooms are definitely more for the parents than the children, so just having the necessities will do 😁. But there's nothing wrong with having a fancy room for your baby if that's what you want to do 🤗.

I have kids with the similar age gap. I would move Peter to his new room a few months prior to moving his brother to the nursery -- toddlers can be really unhappy about taking something from them and giving it to someone else immediately. We had this issue with our stroller. We also reused the crib and learned from the stroller mistake :) We first moved oldest to the big bed, put the crib away, and after 2 months returned the crib for our new baby. By that point the toddler had no attachment to his crib (but he still remembered it!) and was totally ok with his sibling using it.

Yes! Great idea! I heard it's best to avoid big changes within 3 months, so when new baby is 3 months, we'll transition Peter, and that will give us a couple more months before the new baby is in the crib. :) Gotta mark the calendar. haha

Love the idea of the twin bed because I’m not excited about buying a separate toddler bed and then twin soon after lol

Love how simple your nursery is! I’m 36 weeks with my first boy and just now getting started on the nursery.

That’s a very nice nursery without going overboard! My wife and I have that exact same rocking chair (as long as yours is from target lol) in our daughter’s nursery. Great video!

I would put his crib in his new room now, so he can get comfortable in his new room and have less changes when the new baby comes. I don’t have 2 little ones yet but I’ve heard to try to only make one major adjustment at a time?

At first I was like what’s so special about a shelf but that hidden storage was amazing!! I might get one for baby and one for puppy to rotate both of their toys

Looks great! A lot of work goes into all of this, especially all of the planning. We did the same room transition without buying another crib for our middle and youngest kiddos. It worked well for us because our daughter was potty training the same time she moved to her toddler bed. It really worked out! Good luck in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

The Elvie Stride is great! I’ve only used it a couple times but it was totally worth getting even though my old pump still works. I can’t imagine running around after my toddler with regular pump bottles hanging off my front 🤣

I'm excited to use it!! Especially with having a toddler. haha. It was hard enough to pump with a baby around!

My May 2022 baby came 2 weeks early at the end of April! Currently 3 wks old! I just wanted to warn you that this second baby may come a lot faster! I was having prodromal labor for weeks (contractions that never amounted to anything), so that may also be why. If u’re unsure about whether you’re having contractions or Braxton Hicks, they may in fact be contractions. I could tell they felt different than Braxton Hicks, but I have a low pain tolerance, so I wasn’t sure. Anyways, with how fast this baby came, I’m positive they were real contractions. I never got checked at my 36 wk appt, so I don’t know how far along I was before baby came. Contractions woke me up at 7am & baby came at 12:30. With my first, it was like 36 hrs from when I lost my mucous plug & verrry mild contractions started to when he was delivered. Anyways, I know u want an epidural, so just make sure to give urself ample time. I ended up getting an epidural at 8/9cm, so just in the nick of time. I went from 8 min apart twice, then it jumped straight to 5 min apart.

Congrats on your baby! I am planning for him to come a little earlier and faster and will be monitoring it with my OB each week. :) We're almost there!

May I ask why you didn’t buy a convertible crib? You always talk about “future proofing” but now you’ll have to buy a bed frame again when he’s older. My convertible crib turns into a toddler bed and then a full size bed! Yes it’s more expensive up front, but in my opinion that’s ultimate future proofing.
@TheBudgetingWife2 жыл бұрын
Our crib is convertible to a toddler bed. 😊 but if we used that, we’d still have to buy another crib and crib mattress. And then eventually buy a twin whenever that time comes. So we just decided to get a twin mattress to keep on the floor for now, knowing that he will use it probably for the next decade. 😊

My 2 sons will be 22 months apart and I’m doing something pretty similar to avoid a whole second crib! We’ll be transitioning him out of the crib around his second birthday in August anticipating that his baby brother will need the crib in October or November. Worth the logistics and all the figuring out in my opinion!
