Gosh those babies are adorable! Love your videos, you always seem to have the most unique snakes to share that you don't see from most breeders/youtubers.

@thereptileshopreddeer I couldn't imagine having to force feed them haha. Ya I established both litters with only one baby passing but I had the luxury of getting live baby anoles

Dude is there anything you can’t breed? So impressed with what you work with. Please do a video on ambient heating after you work it all out.

Mine are all great. The only time mine even musk is if you scare the babies but otherwise theyre all quite tame.

Is there a way to tell a male from a female red Dominican boa?
@thereptileshopreddeer
@thereptileshopreddeer 3 ай бұрын
@@jerisflo in the older animals the males have much larger spurs. In the babies you pretty well have to probe them.

@thereptileshopreddeer I heard those are kind of mean. Would you recommend that I get the dominican red mountain boa? If im looking for a tree snake thats not mean? I read somewhere that Irian Jaya (Papuan) Carpet pythons also hang in the trees? Or is that not as often as the Red mountain boas?
@thereptileshopreddeer
@thereptileshopreddeer 9 ай бұрын
@@FitHomeFam I would say the carpets probably spend a bit more time in trees then the dominicans do. The issues is most arboreal snakes tend to be a little bit more bitey.

How is this snake different from the one they called, before you were born, the Haitian Boa?
@thereptileshopreddeer
@thereptileshopreddeer Жыл бұрын
From my understanding the red ones were just a specific locality that may have been wiped out from mining if I remember correctly???

The Haitian Boa (Chilabothrus striatus) and Dominican Boa (Epicrates gracilis) are both species of boas found in the Caribbean, but they have some differences: 1. *Distribution*: - Haitian Boa: Found only in Haiti and the surrounding islands. - Dominican Boa: Found in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and other nearby islands. 2. *Appearance*: - Haitian Boa: Has a more striking pattern with darker brown or black markings on a lighter background. - Dominican Boa: Has a more subtle pattern with lighter brown or tan markings on a darker background. 3. *Size*: - Haitian Boa: Generally smaller, with adults reaching up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) in length. - Dominican Boa: Can grow larger, with adults reaching up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) in length. 4. *Behavior*: - Haitian Boa: Known to be more docile and calm. - Dominican Boa: Can be more active and feisty. 5. *Habitat*: - Haitian Boa: Found in drier, more arid areas. - Dominican Boa: Found in a variety of habitats, including forests and grasslands. It's important to note that both species can vary in appearance and behavior, and individual differences may occur. Additionally, the taxonomy of boas is still evolving, and some sources may group these species differently.

@@BaltazarSanchezAlonsoback in the day, when most critters were wild caught, only the standard Haitian boa was readily available. And they were fairly cheap. I haven't seen that Haitian boa in many years. Of course, when the Ball Python craze hit, and everybody bailed out of everything to make money, lots of standard ( at the time ) stuff disappeared.
