The amazing Auntie Jack sent me this footage of some of the babies growing up in her care.
Barff shows us his golden fur...
Spritz, the tiny premmie who took over 3 weeks for her eyes to fully open, is a big girl now.
Kevi, the little one from the Wolli Creek colony who was rescued when Jess and James were in the colony and I commandeered James with his height to wield my pole is a confident little big girl now; Gin Fizz makes an appearance in this video on Jack's arm while Kevi is strutting her stuff.
Sidecar tries to derail the videos by flapping like crazy and trying to climb over the other batties.
We meet Tia Maria, one of the Queensland blacks, plus a little blonde girl who is very sweet.
Tia Maria is very stressed. She was another very young baby at rescue, and has had a tough time sharing her humum with many other "siblings". She and Gin Fizz developed an aberrant and codependent behaviour called "sucking" where one pup sucks on another for comfort. In this case the sucking was mutual, and Jack came in to find them lying under the airer cuddled together and sucking on each other. Great emotional damage can result from this behaviour, but also physical damage if a delicate bit of anatomy is sucked and scarred from the trauma.
They've been separated but because everyone is so inundated with babies, Jack has nowhere to send one of the pair to prevent a recurrence. Gin Fizz is doing OK now she and Tia Maria are separated, however Tia Maria is still stressed and will suck ANY pup she can cuddle up to.
The treatment for this is to regress the pup back to babyhood; Tia just wants to be loved individually, so Jack's got her on a mummy roll (like little babies), with a dummy (pacifier); she's fed with a bottle like a little baby, and put to bed like a little baby, until she feels secure enough to start growing up and being the big girl that she is and will be. Jack also "wears" her in a pocket on her t shirt (the hem of the shirt is pinned up to form a hands-free pocket for Tia to sleep in and still be near her humum.
Tolga Bat Hospital takes donations for me. Tolga is an awesome place in Far North Queensland, which has charity status. By sending donations to them, they get a percentage (and deserve every cent) and they can allocate money to me for batty expenses without it becoming part of my income stream (which makes tax time difficult).

Mention Megabattie or Meg in the PayPal message box and the money will find its way to me for Auntie Jack.
.
If no message box appears, please email Jenny to tell her that the money is for me.
IMPORTANT: If you pay through the PayPal Giving Fund, can you please email Jenny with the AMOUNT DONATED and the name under which you have donated, OR just forward along the PP receipt.
The Giving Fund doesn’t charge any fees (so the bats get more money) but PP doesn’t itemise out the amount, they just send a total every month, and we don’t know if the money is for Tolga or for Megabattie or Auntie Jack
Here’s Jenny’s email.
