I'm from the East Coast, though I lived in So. Cal. in high school in the late 80s. I always respected when I saw y'all uniformed down. As a man, it says something. To see a straight mob red or blue down to the ground? And all day, every day? It showed dedication, love, strength, unity. Respectfully, I have never banged, but I just have a hard time seeing cats these days who say they bang and they're dressed like a rainbow. I miss the old uniform.

Speak!!! Everyone want to use the term OG n I hate it. I hate someone to call me OG at 47 bc I have Cali roots and I know and understand WHAT THAT MEANS! People like to use it as a form of respect to an older person but I still don’t agree with it. I’m from NC but my uncle Ramone who lived in Jordan Downs was a BG who’s only 6 years older than me and when moved here, he gave me the rules and made sure they were respected. Those names were EARNED not given. I look back now to 94-95 when I got affiliated to now and realize it was all BS! I’m first gender where I live and now, my city is ganged out although it’s still more hood oriented than about colors but everyone knows someone or is related in form through marriage, parents been friends for decades etc. My uncle went on to come home from prison and do something productive and I did also so our mission now is to help these kids bc they’re the ones 18-19 with 100k from the dope game kicking up dust

I agree with him at the end. If you're going around claiming your an OG just because you're a certain age most likely you've never been did time in jail. (10 years and more). OG's don't have to boast and brag about what they've did in the streets or jail. OG's try to tell other people to not follow in their footsteps and do something productive with their lives.

Born and raised in Compton, and as civilian, non-affiliate whatever you want to call it, cultural conditioning is real. Back in 1980, I was jumped by some 151 Pirus, and even though I didn’t bang, til this day I don’t like the color red, Niner Jerseys is the only I will ever wear of that color. Did I bang, no but I lived in crip hood.

Baby Gangsta is right. You can still carry on tradition without killing. Destruction is not sustainable for anything, and certainly not good for a community. There are too many people listening to respond, instead of embracing the intention for peace. I wish yall the best in LA. If it can work at ground zero, it can be replicated across tue country. We got too much to be worried about, than to be worried about another black man.

@9_Ether_N-R-GАй бұрын
I agree based on the fact that when one is about PEACE then it is more convincing when it is applied versus said... Thus, when a blood or crip wear colors that once represented the thing they despised the most, then it tends to send a signal that they have put the BS behind them and ready for peace. If I'm a retired damu and always flamed up, how would an active/inactive crip initially view me.... Friend or Foe?

He's grown af, & can wear what he wants of course. But his reason for why he don't wear red, is very contradicting... His homies died, & is doing life, over gang bangin, wit rival sets, that's the opposite color, & they even bang against other crip sets. So makin peace with rivals in general, would mean, that they all died in vein, & got life for nothin. It's a slap in the face, some would say... So if you're willin to be grown, & mature about makin peace with your enemies. Wearing a certain color shouldn't matter. Especially at 61 years old.

Well, there definitely isn't a consensus as to who and what an OG is. Everybody has their own ideas on that.
