Little girls can wear animals on their clothing. Girl clothing doesn't have to be fussy and frilly. Some boy clothes are fine for girls. Classic styles are always appropriate. Wearing leggings and tights under little dresses is a must! You will be an awesome girl mom! ❤

I had twin girls and I actually loved the girl blue jeans. I didn't put dresses on them except on a holiday. And they wore sweat pants and Hoodies. Now a days I have been seeing a lot of Grey's and denim blue on girls.

You have raised a gorgeous little boy who is not only rough and tumble but kind and gentle. I see no reason you won’t do the same with this little girl. Who knows? Maybe she’ll even “tear up the kitchen!”- and if she does it won’t matter what clothes she’s wearing. Love Xander’s take on little boys !!!

I am just like you! Tomboy with two brothers for my childhood. Had a boy first, and when I found I was going to have a girl I freaked out a little bit. I don’t like cutesy things, have more of a classic taste and a love for toned down colors and cozy textures. I wondered how I would ever be a Mom of a girl, and the thought would overwhelm me. BUT, she has taught me every step of the way. She is 5 now, and unicorns, rainbows, and glitter have become a love of mine because what I really love is seeing her little face light up when she sees the things that she finds beautiful. We love our children, and that makes room for our tastes to remain the same, but for our appreciation to broaden. Praying continually for you, and I am just SOOO excited to see all the color and joy this little girl is going to bring to your home. ❤️

All children need and want love and we all can see that Xander is full of love. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I think when you look in her eyes for the first time you will know that you will learn together and everything will be just fine. God has put you right where you are meant to be ♥️♥️♥️

Having had two girls... at first you dress them in your style...wait until they decide themselves! I had one that loved pink and purple and the other loved orange! Two totally different personalities. Congratulations! You will be a great girl mumma! My first baby was a boy so I think the girls wore his stuff as well. In the long run it won't matter what you put on them. 😊

I have 2 girls and a boy. When they were little , I liked neutral colors that were darker to help with stains. I mean, let's get real, babies eat, poop, sleep. I really liked the sleeper gowns too, for late night changes.

I am like you. I struggle with the little girl clothes. I don’t have children but I have an unofficial adopted daughter. She just had a baby boy December 30. He is so easy to buy for. I am thankful we have a boy. I loved this shopping excursion with you. I think once you meet your daughter buying clothing for her will be easier. Praying for you sweet girl! You are looking radiant. Much love to you and your precious family!!

Loved this video! You were so cute when you were shopping and talking about what you like and don't like! If you ask me, there's nothing cuter than a little girl in overalls. I can see her now, following Xander around. What a blessed little girl she will be with him for her big brother and you and Nolan for her parents!! Relax and enjoy! This is such a special time of life!!

I had a girl (many moons ago - lol) and as I watched you hold up clothes and say "boy" I thought, I would so put that on a little girl. Girls are great in greens, dark blues - even browns. One of my favourite dresses for my daughter when she was about 3, was brown with little tiny flowers on it. Everyone commented on it. So don't overthink whether you think it should be for a boy or girl - just put on this sweet little baby anything that makes you happy. Just buy little socks with frills and that's enough. Nothing wrong with overalls and t-shirts on a little girl. Very happy for you - so just enjoy.

I dressed my poor bald daughter in her brothers hand me downs and it actually made sense b/c when she played she got (like ALL children do) messy. I would suggest, in new born, onesies, leggings, sun dresses with matching pants and sleepers…. They really don’t need a lot other than for diaper blow outs and dribbles/drools. I don’t make outfits either so I often bought “outfits” at Walmart.

I didn’t like fussy clothing for my girls either. Now I’m a grandmother to a 9 year old and a 6 year old. If I buy for the 9 year old, I go to the boys’ section usually and find things she loves to wear. If I’m shopping for the 6 year old, it’s the pinkest and frilliest things she loves. You are both wonderful parents and your daughter will most importantly be wrapped in love!!

For me, especially with an infant, I find that the material the clothes are made of are so important. Cotton is breathable and comfy, and since an infant can't say "it's itchy," or "that belt is too tight," I steer away from tulle and adult accessories, including headbands. When she is a bit older, she will tell you what she likes (and you may be surprised).

As a mom of 3 grown daughters and a self proclaimed tomboy you we be fine. I grew up in Lancaster county in Pa. I never liked sports like you but trucks were my thing when I was little. I did find sewing / crafts as a teen but still loved my trucks and John deer’s . I even drove school bus and eventually got my CDL and drove a box truck. God knows what he’s doing you will be a great “girl” mom. I’m now enjoying my year old granddaughter who is ruff and tumble most of the time . My daughter would like her to be a little frilly with head bands ….. but Calliope says no way. 😍

You will be a wonderful Mommy. I loved whatever looked good on my daughter. I was so disappointed when she didn't look good in some of the clothes that I had loved. It all works out. My daughter liked frilly things but also loved playing in dirt and rough housing with her brother. We made sure that both of our kiddos could cook, clean, mow, garden, change tires and change their oil. She could do all of it in pants or a dress.

As a Mom of two boys then two girls, I understand the mind switch that you go through. I always bought what was affordable, comfortable and practical with each child. My girls were not tomboys but they didn't like real lacey, frilly (itchy) clothes. As adults, my daughters still want to be comfortable and modestly dressed. You've got this!

It doesn’t matter what your baby wears, it’s your baby! As long as they’re warm in winter and cool in summer, you’ll be doing great. As I only had girls, I would say don’t have them wear dresses when they’re learning to crawl, apart from that anything goes. (...my little darlings wore dark clothes when they were out exploring or eating chocolate, and light coloured clothes when they were eating ice cream too!!!) Billie from Lancaster, England :-)

Newborns only need a few cotton onesies long and short sleeve, a few receiving blankets with a soft cotton cap to keep warm and wind and insects out of ears. Dresses that are stiff aren’t needed initially . Some receiving style sleepers with elastic on bottom come in handy. A few cotton burp clothes or cotton diapers for spit up and your good to go . I also suggest socks to use on both feet and hands to prevent face scratches . As she grows her clothing will become more important. Just enjoy the journey!! Btw I had two boys before a girl snd I felt girls were easier . And yes you can put cute baby animal prints on girls just stick a coordinating headband and all is good!! Can’t wait for her arrival! I say we need to do an online baby shower!!

Little ones clothing has gotten so much better from when my children were born (35 years ago)! Our son was born first and when I went into a store I would find one or two racks out by the loading dock for boys and racks as far as the eye could see for little girls! I’m so glad things have changed!

You’ll be fine! Don’t fret or overthink it. My daughter-in -law was adamant that her baby girl was not going to be all pink and frills. I laughed my head off. Guess what, my granddaughter is 3 now and her favorite color is pink and she loves dress up and frills. She can also be rough and tumble and play outside in the mud for hours. Like you said, it’s a balance. It’s not one or the other. It will all fall into place.

Don't stress it will all fall in to place once she gets here. When you see her & get to know her personality etc will seem as though she has always been a part of your lives & you will know what styles of clothing suits her. My parents said the only time I put up a fuss about anything was I never liked a car seat & with clothing did not like lace. I never wanted anything itchy or scratchy. To this day I still don't. We are all different but that's good. Your going to do just fine & just relax & enjoy this next chapter & journey of life. You will be an amazing girl mom just as you are a boy mom.

I don't like all the frills and tulle skirts, but love cute summery flower dresses and onesies. Don't be too worried about how you will do with your little girl, once you have her it will all fall into place and you will be the best mom to both Xander and your little girl. And who knows, you probably will start loving to buy all the girlie clothes better than boy stuff🙂

I have a very simple minimalist wardrobe myself and if I had children their wardrobe would emulate mine. I would probably do little mini capsule wardrobes for them. A simple wardrobe of neutral plain colours with a few colourful items that can go with everything I.e maybe all neutral stockings that can match with any dresses. I’m all about practicality, comfort (I only buy natural fibres now cause I just know I won’t wear clothes with synthetic materials, they’ll sit in the wardrobe unworn and natural fibres seem to last a lot longer too) and keep a paired down wardrobe so I don’t get overwhelmed. I love capsule wardrobes and project 333 and would definitely do a modified version of that.

The clothes you got are so cute! I have two girls. Something I found was that there are a lot of different pink colours that don't always match... So it helps to make matching sets. For example a dress and a legging. I got a lot of baby clothes from family, didn' t buy that much. I am more minimal with my second because with two children I do laundry more often so clothes will be back in the drawer quickly. They don't need a huge amount of clothes.

Awww…don’t stress it. I think with your beliefs and style you like simple, classic patterns and shapes. And that’s great. There is a push to make little girls look like big girls and you are right- raising girls to have a healthy balance is important. You are a girl and you like all those things- and there is nothing wrong with you. You’ve got this! Keep her in all white as a newborn if you have to until you see her personality and get comfortable…enjoy the journey.

I have been an Aunt and Great-Aunt to a huge circle of family and friends. Babies and sleepers and onesies and denim are my go to. Kohls is a good resource for sales. I have purchased so many pairs of girl tights over the years. My floofy dress shopping was limited to Christmas and/or Easter and even then, I did not go overboard with the tulle. Purchase some heavy linen and run up a few simple overalls dresses. They look fine wrinkled and you can add length as they grow. I used to sew cotton sun suits and would make them reversible so the Moms could get double duty out of them.

My kids are teens now, but I had more fun dressing my daughter than my son. I’m glad that I had my babies back when there were plenty of traditional options available. These days I see baby girls in cheetah prints, neutral tones and even black outfits, none of which would be anything that I’d choose for my baby girl. As you say, there’s nothing wrong with other options, it’s just a matter of personal taste. Soon enough our kids form their own preferences, so dress her in what pleases you while you can!

Target had granimials, those were cute each piece had a animal tag that would match another animal as a set. The girls being born end of Aug. it would be getting cold. Lots of blankies. I knit and crochet so I made lots of stuff also. Best of luck, your a great Mom! 😀

I still love all the florals and pastel colors. I see you picked quite a few onesies with leggings for a newborn. I found they looked very cute, but the elastic of the pants was right at her belly button and with the clip and it healing…I hated having it tight around there and preferred the rompers and all in one pieces. The ones with the two way zippers are my favorite! As my girl got older I really liked all the leggings. I’m with you, skirts and dresses are a hassle with a baby. I hope to get the privilege to shop for a boy sometime and see how that goes.

One of my favourite thing about little girls is sewing, I find more of the sewing patterns I like than styles off of the rack. With sewing you can give yourself a wider seam, so the dresses can grow with the child. You can also put in gathers in the skirt (from bottom to top), for when she crawls. Homemade clothes seem to stand up better for climbing trees and playing ball with the boys too.

Girls look great in little denim pants with a nice floral t shirt. It’s okay to put them in overalls too. My daughters were both Tom boys and just lived in jeans. They always wore cute t shirts until their teens and then they went through a black stage, wearing all black. My youngest is 41 now and turned out very girly when she hit adult hood. The other is 44 and still dresses in black pants and shirts.

My boys and girl are grown. I was athletic growing up, but also enjoyed playing with my dolls. So when I got my girl after 2 wonderful boys, I was thrilled. What I remember struggling most with was the girl fashions were "grown up trendy" styles and not "little girl" looking. Thrift stores were my best bet and I sewed some of her clothes too. Once they're old enough hey will have their own choices. My babies were all fall and winter babies so my under 6 month babies were almost entirely in sleepers. I like dresses because they're cool in the summer and then in the fall you can add leggings to get some more use out of them then reverse i winter to spring - a winter dress can be worn in spring with carpis. My daughters wore brother hand me downs.

Don't second guess yourself. I was not a child who liked ruffles or anything scratchy and my Mom figured that out quickly. I loved pink, so she dressed me simply and in pink, or another soft colour. I was content. Nobody else can tell you how to dress your child, you've got this and all you need to do is realize it. One last thing, boy mom or girl mom, you're a fabulous Mom!

Your little girl may like tulle and frills! I also think it is lovely to dress babies in white and pastels as they have the rest of their lives to wear dark and bright colours and prints

Headbands are a great way to to make plain/ more neutral boy clothes look adorable on a little girl!! You should go through some of Xander’s baby clothes and see if there’s anything that he could hand down to his sister that you could add a headband to for little sister!

I never got to have kids so I just thought it was all cute no matter what. Also I always thought let them wear whatever because they grow out of them so fast anyway . Everything you picked was very cute.

Absolutely agree with your perception on quality. I'm tired of girl clothes and even women clothes with all the extras, and so much more layering. If you notice, which I think you already have by the sounds of it, is the very expensive good quality clothing usually has very minimal print if at all. It is simple and subtle, classic in a way. And you certainly don't need to buy pink. There are some beautiful neutral colors, earth tones, jewel tones, more natural out there..somewhere. If I happen to find some I'll send them your way :)

My kind of mom. I was not into playing with dolls and such as a kid. Boring. Would rather be outside doing stuff. I loved buying clothes for my son. Could always find such classy things. You made some super choices for your little girl when she gets here. And remember, momma, your Maker/creator and hers has already put into her what and how He desires for her to be and do. You'll love her to pices just like you do Xander. And God will more than likely teach you many things through her.

I just love Xander. “I’m so spoiled!” Lol! He’s a dear! There are some great neutral looking baby girl clothes out there. You don’t have to get frilly stuff. 🥰 If you poke around online you might find some things you like. I am like you and am not necessarily into all the poufy stuff. I like all the things you chose for baby girl.

I feel your pain. I had 3 boys before I had our daughter. I was very excited to have a little girl, but I had no clue about little girl things. Luckily my older sister had 2 daughters so I got a lot of hand-me-downs. My big problem was doing her hair. She's in her 20's now and still laughs at her baby/toddler pictures because she always has the same hairstyle. It was the "Pebbles" look from the Flintstones. One of my favorite pictures of her is in a dirt pile on our farm playing with her brothers tractors and trucks. Your little girl is going to be who she is and you are going to be an amazing girl mom. Don't stress and enjoy the journey.

How fun to buy girl clothes! My two kids (now 40 and 42), had mostly yellow or green clothes before birth, because we didn't know the gender. I can tell you like lots of flowered things. Don't worry....you are going to have so much fun. I think babies look so cuddly in onesies. But don't get too many, because they grow so quickly.

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Zander will be helpful with clothes. My son would tell me his sister did not like “those clothes.” Girls don’t have to be all lace and frills especially the first few months. You’re fine! Tell Zander he is going to be the best big brother! ♥️💗

for our little ones we always did either onesies with stretchy pants or sleepers with zippers. Girl or boy. They really didn't have a lot of OUTFIT type clothes until like 18 months or so.

Jeanine. I am so excited for your family to welcome this precious little being. I’m thinking it will be much easier for you to shop for her once she has arrived. You will be able to see her and what you think will look so cute on her. When we haven’t met them yet it’s so hard to imagine what they will look like. You and Nolan are such good parents. Xander and baby girl are very lucky to have you as parents. Much love and God Bless you. Carolyn from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦

All the “boy” stuff you looked at I would have TOTALLY bought for my little girl :) My philosophy is that I want most of her stuff to work for the next baby if it happens to be a boy! Babies don’t care what they wear, it’s practical, and I don’t like pink or frills, so it works all around! You’re going to be awesome!

Hi! I have a handful of outfits for my daughter, that you picked out. I don't care for tool, either. I really struggled with all the pink, because I am such a purple girl, but I worked through it... some.

You are doing great. I can relate as being a boy mom and grandmother. When we did have a granddaughter I still struggle with outfits for her. I am thankful she is a very modest teenager (somewhat a tomboy) who doesn't like flowery outfits. So much easier to dress and coordinate boy clothing. And yes little girl clothing today is not what I grew up with 60 plus years. 😉 Not as stylish, modest, it's like they are outfits for older girl styles and not for baby girls. Classic outfits. So I am rambling. Just enjoy yourself through this season in life. May God bless you and yours, as well as guide you.

Jeannine, I have two older brothers, and I am the baby girl. My parents used to dress me in dresses when I was a little girl. As I got older, I gravitated to boy styles, such as neutral colors or boy/unisex T-shirts. I ended up being a Tomboy and liking boy stuff like video games. Now, I can dress up and be pretty, but I also like to dress down in jeans and a T-shirt. I accredit my likes and styles to the fact that I hung out with my older brothers a lot as a child. Your little girl could be a girly girl, or she could be a Tomboy. Either or is perfectly fine. Don’t stress over it too much. She will be fearfully and wonderfully made the way God intended her to be. She will also be loved by everyone around her. That is already evident now.
