I myself never read King In Yellow, but based on Wikipedia's entry of it, it sounds like a really interesting collection of stories. One that caught my eye in that list was Street of Four Winds, which is about an artist who is drawn to a neighbor's room by a cat. I also learned that King In Yellow inspired a particular SCP, which is 701.

@@silverflight01 I read it however it’s a book based in the (alternative) future of the 1920’s written in the 1800’s and has a lot of “of the times” messages so it’s pretty hard to follow sometimes. Basic idea is pretty interesting, a bunch of unrelated short stories loosely connect by this play called “the king in yellow”. The content of the play is never reveled but lines come out here or there. “Remove your mask, i’m not wearing a mask” is one. Some of the stories are amazing but some I had trouble following. Worth a read tho

@@waffler-yz3gw I can totally see where you're coming from. For me, his game falls into the so bad its good category. And i think that's the point, they're not taking themselves to seriously. However, the ad bit does concern me. It gives off poppy playtime vibes, of course this is a little different considering this game is free to play (at least on mobile). But even so having ads for your game *in* your game feels gross and almost cheep. Espesicially considering the fact that it's not even remotely subtle... Hopefully they wont try to grossly oversell and capatalize off of this game like other games (bendy and hello neighbor im looking at you) have.

When Baby in Yellow appeared in mainstream it was always for very short bursts and not on as big of a scale as Bendy or Poppy 2. The game is very heavily based on "King in Yellow" so it isn't meant to have some obscure secret plot that many other modern horror games try to achieve as it gives them more attention 3. The game never takes itself that seriously, Poppy and Beddy were serious attempts at making childhood memories scary while this game is obviously goofy for a purpose

Something I never knew we needed: An Eldritch themed horror game -- based on "The King in Yellow" by Robert Chambers -- that consists of you taking care of a baby prince. Big props to the developers for making a game with their own unique spin on the stories. Also, over 80mil downloads? WTF-- that's insane. I think the Cat represent the BiY's Father In the Story he (the Cat) left and the painting says he is cooming (back) There also other connections between the Father & the Cat The Books & the Paint are made by The Father The Secret Room you find The Painting in another version is The Father's Secret Room Also the Father is the only Character that we don't know what happened The Mother help the BiY (mentioned in the Third Book) the Musicisian was Depressed and ended being consumed by the BiY's Madness The Doctor also help the Baby (apparently) & the Babysitter is/are both the Bunny (escaped) & the Sheep (captured)

For those curious, Hastur is also known as the King in Yellow. He's basically an eldritch god (old ones) from the same mythos as Cthulu. Some variations have him as Cthulu's half-brother, iirc. I'm not super well versed on it, sadly, but the general gist is there.

Okay, so I assume this isn't super apparent because the book itself is semi-obscure but the whole game is paying homage to one of the most powerful entities in the lovecraftian mythos, Hastur; the king in yellow. Essentially a messenger and herald of the outer gods who himself is also an omnipresent outer God whose power is only outshone by his formless parents who are trapped beyond our reality.
