He looks perfectly happy, healthy, and content. If he wasn’t, he would be screaming and rooting. Beautiful baby.

Rooting is done only by newborns.

This is lil extreme for 6 months. Even back then moms prechewed for their babies and mashed up food. The idea tht babies went strate to pure solids is nuts. 1,baby led weaning is only safe if done correctly and ur also still BF or formula feeding. 2 u still should only introduce one food at a time because of allergies. 3 your baby shouldnt have juice unless constipated and in small amounts. 3 baby led weaning does not mean ur bby will self feed safely sooner than other babies. 4. Mashing the food to softer texture yourself like spaghetti, potatoes ect and letting bby self feed off the tray at 6 mo is safer and in between bites,drinks of bm or formula will allow baby to gradually adjust to regular eating, not choking,their gag reflex,and get all the nutrients they need. It's not just choking u should worry about. Its allergies, how mature their stomach is, and even tho their is an average, most babies at 6 months are not digestively mature enough to handle most foods. That's why it's supposed to be weaning not full on mealing! They need to develope more and yes it's cute this baby is doing okay but I'm posative their lil belly hurt like hell later on. I baby led weaned all my kids and yes we give them the fun sticks of food to eat but I mostly mash it on the tray or blend it myself and let them feed themselves then take a bottle and only for 1 meal a day do i do it at 6 months. I start at 5 usually if they show readiness. It's a good happy medium between the two opposing sides and it's just plain more responsible but also logical at about 8 months u can safely cut out all smooshed food if u really want too but 6 mo is way too early for it to keep them fully nurished

Aww too cute. And it makes sense, purees didn't even exist 100 years ago.

Omg I can't believe what Im reading and moreover it has been liked by 7 people! Of course mashed food always existed. Back in the 13th century they called it refined or purified food and they sure had non of the junk food almost all parents give nowadays. What did not exist 100 years ago was MacDonalds hopefully!

He can have everything really, just make sure it's not 'al dente' but soft enough to chew! Also we didn't use any salt or strong herbs until he was a bit older than a year.

Guideline suggests cutting pieces of food into tiny single bits. These are to big and a choking hazard.

Do the babies ever get enough required food????
@schoblovski5 жыл бұрын
Sandra Santana typically this is not their only source of food but more an introduction to food. He was breastfed a long time even after starting with the baby led weaning

Just started my 6 month old on first day of LW...we gave him a banana piece...he started playing with it and did not bring to mouth...will try tomorrow...any tips for mom?
@schoblovski10 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that every child is different, you can't force it if baby is not ready. The right moment to start is when the baby starts reaching out to grab the food you are eating.

Cute :) But how much does he actually eat? Do you have to spoonfeed him afterwards?
@schoblovski10 жыл бұрын
Hi there, he experiments with the food, chewing, sucking, but only actually swallows a tiny portion. He was still completely brestfed. It is more an introduction to food rather than replacing the breastmilk. Also they learn to chew before they get the teeth. When you think of it, most kids only ever have to swallow because all they get is mashed or liquid food, then you introduce solid food when they have teeth and they don't know how to chew properly.
@schoblovski10 жыл бұрын
Also he is now 2.5 years old and eats everything. Most kids at his age are quite fuzzy with food and would only eat certain things. However he eats everything, from smelly cheese, to olives, to spinach, etc. Not saying this directly links to BLW, but it didn't do any harm either ;-)
@FirstIdea10 жыл бұрын
schoblovski Thank you for your answer, it's really an interesting option. I didn't think about the posibility, that he was completely breastfed, now it makes sense. Much luck to your little lad :)
@schoblovski10 жыл бұрын
FirstIdea Thanks a mill :) In fact it turned out so well that we do the very same now with our second son who is the same age now as Vincent was on that video. I highly recommend BLW. It does make a lot of mess on the floor and all but it is absolutely worth it. Plus you also get the time to eat yourself, where otherwise you'd be busy spoonfeeding him!
