I am the same way, Jody..When I go to a doctor for my pains, I always hope/wish they would just find out and tell me what it wrong..PT can be very helpful...With PT, you will only be given a certain amount of visits...You won't be going for a long time. We have top notch insurance, and they will only cover about 6 visits...then the PT person can write and get the visits extended...Also, you should ask your doctor for muscle relaxers..Take one at night..Plus try massage and heat/cold...The PT person will hopefully give you some helpful tips: for they have studied the structure of the back. So if you tell the person exactly where it is hurting you, they will hopefully come up with ideas to help make it feel better.

They are probably sending you to Physical Therapy to strengthen your core muscles. Usually that’s what’s wrong when your back bothers you. Water exercise is actually the best, because you don’t hurt afterwards. Anything to do to strengthen your abs works. 🥰

Insurance companies are annoying like that. It took my orthopedic surgeon almost a year of fighting with my Insurance company to approve a much needed knee surgery. They just don't like to spend what they think is unnecessary payments, even though it could be very important. Odessa is too cute with she makes her ooh sounds

Hey Y'all greetings from Paris TX...Jodi, I don't know if this will help your problem but my insurance did the same thing.... Something was found on my X-rays ...I was diagnosed with Severe Stage 4 Tricompartamental DJD and the Dr that I saw automatically wanted to do Physical Therapy and injections...I know our health issues are different but why do physical therapy when its going to hurt...I called my insurance company and explained to them the situation amd they approved something different...Try calling your insurance company and explain to them the situation and you may be surprised with the outcome...The insurance company could approve the MRI.

Here in Canada when A Dr orders a mri, CT scan we don't have to pay for the tests.

Jody, that's crazy. They need to know what is going on before they send u to PT. Not that I'm a Dr or anything, but hav had 4 back surgeries and have always had MRI before anything was done. Don't understand why ur insurance is doing it the opposite way. Please keep us up to date. Hope you find out what it is and can get some relief.

Agree with a lot of the comments on your back. It makes more sense to have the MRI done BEFORE physical therapy. You don't want to do PT and cause it to aggreviate it more if something is wrong with the vertebrae. I think the kids didn't quite know how to react to those Halloween scary figures! They scared me! Lots of B-Day shoutouts today.

I hope your back gets better soon Jody! I agree with another commenter that maybe look into the cost of an MRI it may be worth the peace of mind. On another note... I love my Blackstone griddle. And so does my husband, who doesn't even cook! 😅 I love it because it's safer to use on my porch, unlike gas grills that catch on fire periodically. You should think about one, John. They are way safer. I feel like you'd love one! Makes awesome stir fry and fajita style meals. Smash burgers are awesome as well! 😋

Hey Jody I'm sorry to here about your back pain, I know all to well how uncomfortable and debilitating it can be! I'm not sure what insurance you have but that sounds so bizarre that they requested you to do physical therapy and then you can get an MRI !!? If you don't feel comfortable with this care provided from your Dr I would definitely get a second opinion. Or possibly go to an urgent care or emergency room and request and MRI or explain your concerns with one of the Dr's and maybe they can order you one or have you get one that day! There could be so many issues and physical therapyight make it worse and then what? You know? I also looked into thoracic back pain and it gives so many different answers but felt it was worth looking into. I couldn't help but comment and offer some advice and support as this was weighing on my heart. I hope you feel better soon and find the answers you need and are looking for.
