This was so sad that I just sat there and cried. Kids all made fun of me as a child like they did Dumbo, so I felt very alone at school. All i wanted to do was go home even though I liked to learn and sometimes it’s all I want still even though I am all grown up now.. Mama is in heaven now. She never knew this song, but she always sang sweet to me when she put me to bed and when she woke me up too.

My son passed at 3.5 months old. In March it will be 2 years since he has been gone. Just want you to know because I know I feel like the only one out here sometimes.

I had my first son 05/11/21 Since birth this song just kinda became our little thing together ❤ Ive sang this to him constantly even when he barely wakes up from his little nappys. I just hold him close while i sing. Makes my heart melt. I found true meaning of love when i became a parent ♥ To my beautiful baby i love you forever 💙

My mom used to sing this to me every night and now I'm crying because she doesn't sing it anymore and I love her more than literally anything in this world and I don't want to lose her ever This song makes me think of what might happen when she does, and I hate that thought so much and now I can't stop crying because I love her so much

Makes me cry hard. I never had this in my childhood, my stepdad made sure I knew just how much he didn't want me around. But I never realised how petty he was then, children will always forgive and crave love even when they are being treated badly. I once helped with laundry and asked him if he loved me, truly believing he did, even though he treated me like a nuisance, since I was his "daughter" after all. But he told me my mother came with a "package" and there was nothing he could do about that - and that I wasn't his biological child, so no. I didn't see how selfish and cruel saying that to a 9 year old, who lost her father 2 years prior was at the time, I just assumed all adults felt that way and mourned my own fathers passing since I would never get my biological father again. It wasn't until I was a grown woman I realised he should have acted like an adult and comforted me. I supposed me being an ugly child didn't help. He is nice to me today, but I suspect its just because he is getting really old, and I turned out different than he thought I would. I was chubby, but I turned out to be pretty decent looking later on (was even a model when I was 18-22) I now have a college degree and I am married to a wonderful man. But till this day his comments and the feeling of being unwanted still haunts me. I myself would never make a child feel unwanted or unloved, not ever. They can't leave like adult can, they have to put op with whomever are their caretakers. So if you meet a person with kids, you get on board with them as well and at least pretend to care about them. I hope to give this safety to my own children one day, be that step, bio or adopted ones. They shall know their mother loves them no matter what, even if everything else goes wrong in life. Never alone when Mother is there

It may be a moth old but such a sad tale, to lose someone so dear and being connected with someone so much worse. My father went through similar, his dad not there and his stepmom was horrible to him, leading a tough life but when he met my mother and her child, my brother, and got hitched, he resolved to be a better dad then his. Always making sure to let me and my brother know how much he loved us, everyday of our lives so long as he lived. He was my brothers dad despite no biological connection, as any parent should. Its his love and example that will make my resolve even stronger that no matter what child I have, biological, adopted, "Package deal" I'll love them with all my heart, as any child deserves. I hope whatever child you have will know just how special he is to have someone like you.

You are a survivor. Once upon a time you were a victim. But now? You are a survivor of a narcissistic child abuser. Be proud of that. And be kind to yourself “I was an ugly child” wash that all off of you. No child deserves to be talked to that way.

What a heartless stepdad. What were you thinking mom! Hopefully it had a positive side, you knew what to avoid in your life when you became an adult. I'm glad you're well loved now!

I forgot that my mom used to sing me this song when I was a baby. When she visited to meet her grandson for the fist time at 3 months, he had a hard time staying asleep and was very fussy. Until, she played him this very song, it instantly soothed him at put him at ease..my son is now 5 years old and asks for this song before bed
