Very nice to be sharing such traditions. I have never heard about this before although I know about the cutting of the hair on their 9 days. I have learned something new about nothing salt until after three months later after birth. It's always so educational to be aware of different cultures/ traditions. You are never too young to learn eh!! You guys had some real nice treats. I like anything sweet that you would prepare at your religious functions but not a fan of the seven curries. I haven't had that lapse and puri in years. When I was a youngster, I used to go to moran with my family and friends to NO 63 Beach. Hello.. 😊 thanks for asking. In Hinduism, the mundan is one of 16 purification rituals known as Shodasha Samskara. The ceremony is believed to rid the baby of any negativity from their past life while promoting mental and spiritual development. It also has a scientific purpose too which is to help in keeping the baby's head cool during the hot weather. There are so many beliefs, and parents have a choice. Just Go by what you feel is right and be careful so that it doesn't hurt the baby.
