The best way to learn the pronunciation is to listen to the boys when they speak. They say the words maknae and hyung constantly so if you listen to them say it and not just read the captions you'll learn really quickly. And hyung line and rapline are not the same.. hyung line is Jin, Yoongi, Hobi and Joon.

Exactly. I think this is how I first started to learn Korean. It might have naturally came to me since I’m someone who learns best from hearing so I was able to quickly pick up on Korean vocabulary and how to pronounce said vocabulary while watching things like kdramas and Korean reality TV shows. It took me a while to notice that most people dont actually HEAR what the boys are saying but instead just READ it 😂😂

Maknae : pronounced “mag-neh” (letters K and G are the same letter in Korean, that’s why even with Jungkook’s name you will hear them call him “Jungook” rather than JungKOOK) Hyung: not Hi-ung but “Heeyong” said in one breath (as if you’re reading the word “young” with an H in front). It’s the same logic as saying Taehyung (Tae-hee-yang or even better, Tae-young)

Familia. “Maknae” is similar to how you pronounce Monday “mak-nay” only the “ay” isn’t so long(if that makes sense) and “Hyung” is just just like “young” with a h sound at the beginning “hyoung” I hope my “explanation” helps a bit 😔💜

@@unknowninglee No. It is pronounced "mahg(k)", though the "g" sound is appropriate there, as "giyeok" - ㄱ - contains both the sound of "g" and "k" in a way that can be confusing to the western ear. And the "a" sound in Korean is pronounced "ahh", like in "ostrich", while the "ae" is indicated when it is to be pronounced as "eh". In Korean, 막내 - I'm sorry if you can't read Korean, but please trust me when I say, there is no "n" sound in the first syllable. The "n" sound (nieyon) is indicated by - ㄴ - and, as you can see, that is only in the last syllable of the word.

- maknae - 막내 - pronounced "mahg(k)-neh" - Korean for youngest (of a given group/situation) - general rule for Korean "a" sounds - they're pronounced ahh, like in ostrich, "ae" is indicated for "eh" - hyung - 형 - pronounced like "young" with the "h" sound at the beginning, all one syllable - Korean for big brother - occasionally, the boys call each other "hyungnim" - the "nim" added to a title implies a greater amount of respect - ahjussi - 아저씨 - pronounced "ahh jushie" - Korean for mister, like in "hey, mister, you dropped this" - title used to refer to a male a generation older than you - implies a closer familiarity than complete stranger - nara - 나라 - Korean for country - that's why, when RM said "my favorite nara is carbonara", he was actually making a pun - mul naengmyeon - 물냉면 - Korean for (mul) water, (myeon) noodle - Korean cold buckwheat noodle dish, often served iced as well, with a "broth" of cold water - topped with shredded veggies, thinly sliced Asian pear, and hard-boiled egg (and/or a couple thin slices of cold cooked beef) - you season it yourself by adding mustard and vinegar in whatever ratios your palate prefers and gently mixing and folding into the noodles right before you eat - it's traditionally served in the middle of winter (before refrigerators, ice was only available in winter, obviously), but now, a favorite eaten in the summer as a cool and refreshing meal - abba - J-Hope was actually saying "ahp" (앞), which is Korean for front - he was telling RM to face front - saying it in succession rapidly was making it sound like he was saying "abba" - samgyeopsal - 삼겹살 - pronounced "sahm gyohp sal" - Korean for (sam) three, (sal) fat - 3 layers of fat pork belly (a very popular Korean bbq meat for grilling), there is also ohgyeopsal ("oh" is Korean for 5 - so it is 5 layer fat pork belly) - the number of layers don't just indicate fat, it counts alternating fat and meat layers - pork belly = bacon before preserving process (for those who didn't realize what pork belly was) - that blow pipe toy is even more than just blowing - that ball is free floating, so you have to keep it balanced and steady as well or it will just fall off - kimchi pancakes - in Korean, pancakes are "jeon" (전 - pronounced "jun", like "junk" without the "k" sound), and they are mostly savory, not a sweet breakfast food - the most typical is pajeon (pa = pah - spring onion pancake), but you can add various things in a jeon, like shredded veggies, kimchi, and even meats (personally, I love seafood jeon with octopus and shrimp) - they're more crepe-like, rather than the American version of a fluffy bready pancake, but the batter makes it chewier than a crepe - they're served in large flat rounds from which you tear off bite-sized pieces and lightly dip in a sauce made with soy sauce, green onion, red pepper flakes, and rice wine vinegar (that, with a bowl of makgeolli - fizzy Korean rice wine - sets off a perfect occasion) Personally, I think RM's title of "clumsy" isn't really fair. Often, you'll find people of extremely high intelligence to be "clumsy". It is not because they're not dexterous or have poor physicality, but rather, it's because their minds are literally running so fast, their bodies can be off-timing and not as fast as their minds, or their thoughts just aren't focused on the activity at hand, but are several steps ahead. Or they become impatient to get to the next step and become careless in the moment. So they stumble and make mistakes. The same goes for some people who have stuttering problems. Their minds simply run faster than their bodies can handle, and they stumble.

Also during the cooking competition, Jimin wasn't helping not because he was flustered rather they were playing Avatar cooking where Suga (Chef Meow) will rally instructions to one of the member and they will have to direct the other member about it . The members switched every 5 mins . It was a very hilarious RUN BTS episode . So in short , even if RM was flustered Jimin actually couldn't do anything except calmly directing him .
