Their jungle is being destroyed to make palm oil. Palm oil is in many foods we eat and skin care products. They are critically endangered. Zoo borns don't have skill to survive in the jungle. A baby orangutan spends 8 years with its mother while she teaches him how to climb, what trees to trust, food to eat, tools to use, how to build nests. There are programmes which take orphans and train them. It takes years before they can be released into safe jungle. There are many orphans because hunters & pet traders kill the mothers. The zoo is second best but the best isn't always possible. If you released Loki and his mother into the jungle, they'd perish. They haven't the skills.

Such a good mother. They all love their babies so much. How any one could hurt these beautiful creatures is beyond my understanding. One question, do they hear all the yelling and screaming. I would think that would become unbearable after a while because it never stops.

I think so too! They hangout with their mom for years to learn. It's a shame that there are too many orphans. There are videos filmed by groups who rescue these mistreated sweet baby's and they don't make a peep. The only time the cry is when they have to move them & then they cry out in pain😢.. These baby's that are stolen are laid back even when they are treated so bad. I'm am so glad for the wonderful people who rescue and rehabilitate them to eventually return to the wild. People do not know how & what to feed them and then they are thrown into a small, dark pathetic cage and really more or less forgotten. They live a life of abuse until rescued. They don't holler and make loud noises for their mother. They are very smart and probably know that moms nowhere around.

I wish mother orangutan and her offspring could be in the wild jungle. While watching the video, I ended up muting the sound as the human children’s screams made me want to plug my ears! I hope these poor orangutans are not subjected to the full force of that racket.

I agree, they are beautiful, gentle, peaceful, and very clever. They are the very best. When I think about what harm humans do to them.... (with palm oil, destroying their forest, killing the mothers and using their poor babies as pets) it makes me sick. I love orangutans.

I tell you what though, she’s mom of the year. She loves both her babies, that’s for sure. Mom cracks me up how she always knows exactly where the treats are. I obviously know nothing about development of these orangutans but I keep anxiously waiting to see that baby walk. Seems like Loki sees Riki come around and automatically gets scared.

The Mother must be young or first time mama. I wonder if first baby. The baby is adorable. She’s very interested in the people and just so dang sweet. Again what is the mama doing? Kiki isn’t the first time mama. The baby, Loki, is her second son. The older orangutan, Riki who tries to “steal” the baby is her first son and Loki’s older brother.

OMG I am screaming all the way from California. What the hell is going on here. This baby is hungry and very sleepy but mom don't care, she wakes the baby to be inappropriate again and tried to hang her over the hammock so the brother can do the same thing to her, you can see baby doesn't like it. I can't even watch anymore. Poor baby, zookeepers need to take the baby🥵😡

Riki was grabbing him sooo hard around his waist i thought he was gunna pop!! Or hurt his little arms by kiki n riki playing tug o war with him....poor kid is never gunna be able to crawl bcus riki tries to pick him up every time kiki sets him down 😞
