If in a tank, cover all around if anything... look good, i use same substrate

I set the tank in a corner where 3 sides are adjacent to a wall so they don’t surf the glass (also I don’t clean the front glass and the dirt etc makes them realize they can’t get through) Either way it’s only temporary I’m going to build them a larger pvc enclosure with plants etc

I would assume, humidity and moisture are the biggest key factors. You want it humid but not soaked through, too much moisture in the soil can cause shell rot.
