I found an actual nursing cover the best thing for feeding in public with a wriggly baby as nothing can slip off. You pop it round your neck, and pop them under and it worked a treat. A lot of people criticise for using covers but for me it built my confidence and also meant he fed without getting distracted and then usually dosed off! Get them in mothercare or online xx

Hi Kate! Can completely agree with you about the first few weeks with two is hard but it gets so much easier as the weeks go by and seeing your two babies together is amazing! We have two little boys who are similar to Elliot and Archie so love watching your videos. Maybe what your eat as a family, or a weaning video could be nice when Elliot gets to that age, top ten toddler books or toys, bedtime routine, I thought the anxiety side of pregnancy and birth was a good video idea! Maybe a video from Ricky's point of view for dads like of parenting or how to help partners in birth? Speed clean videos are so fun to watch 😂 maybe a list of five top items you've bought for your boys before they were born, like pram, nursery stuff, car seats, the essentials. Sorry to bombard you with ideas 😂 xxxx

Awww sorry you're not feeling confident feeding in public. For me what helped was wearing 2 vest tops - 1 to to up, one to go down, latch baby onto nipple in between the 2 tops, then my tummy and other boob weren't exposed - and once you've got that first feed out of the way it didn't seem so scary anymore. I never used a muslin or cover and never had any negative comments or anything...actually I remember one time a group of student midwives coming up to me when I was breastfeeding in the window of a café and being really lovely and encouraging! It became very normal (and I fed him everywhere, from cafés, trains, church etc. and I'm not usually a confident person!) Remember it's your right to feed your baby anywhere you like and it's illegal for anyone to ask you to stop/move/discriminate against you in any way. I used to remind myself that people are in charge of their own eyes and if they don't like seeing me breastfeed they can look away!

Well done on the breastfeeding, you guy should be so proud of yourselves! Although you may be feeling awkward BFing n public, remember your someone else's role model, you're helping to reduce the stigma around BFing and you're creating a wonderful and natural bond with baby. I think expressing and giving via a bottle can be a brilliant way for dads to get involved too though. Keep going your doing fantastic!!!!!

I can completely relate with the health anxiety during pregnancy as it can be a bit of a rollercoaster. I also found I focused more on the pregnancy than the thinking everything was a life threatening illness like I usually do. I found my germ issues got worse however especially in hospital settings. I don't know about you but during having my babies I was okay ish but afterwards I was convinced I would bleed to death with the placenta part 😂 so much so I wasn't interested in my babies but more thinking I was about to die. It's lovely to hear breastfeeding is going well for you. Breastfeeding in public will get easier the more you do it and coming from me who always has my boobs fully out wherever I am haha I have never had any negativity from anybody. I'm sure people look ocassionally but I've only ever had positive comments. I can totally understand the wriggly baby, Wolfie now tries standing up while feeding 😅.. With my first especially when she was a newborn I remember it being very faffy latching on in public and I can highly recommend a Bebe Au Lait cover. You just pop it on and there's a nice round bit at the top so you can fully see what you are doing with baby but nobody else can. They are awesome! Ps Elliot is gorgeous. Loving baby week 😄 xx

Tips for breastfeeding in public. The first thing I would say is the more you do it the easier it will be. Sometimes it's easier not to bother with a cover as that's one extra thing to fuss about, most of the time no ones watching and they won't see much anyway. Wearing a vest top under a looser top means less will be shown as you can pull the vest down and the loose top can drape over you. I think this is referred to as the 'one up one down' method. Getting into the mind set that you have every right to feed your baby anywhere you want and there's no reason to hide what your doing may empower you to breastfeed more in public. Remember the more people see breastfeeding mum's the more normalised it will become which unfortunately is something this country really needs to work on!

I love your videos so much as my little boy (first baby) is 8 weeks so it's wonderful to see what gorgeous Elliott is up to! I've fed him all over the place and my tip would just be to wear tops that you can pull up, especially flowy ones are ideal. I'm a bit sad that my summer dresses aren't getting worn but I find pulling a top/dress down and exposing your whole boob, covering it with a muslin etc is much more hassle. Honestly just go for it, you're an incredible mummy and a beautiful brand new human is healthy and happy because of your body 💪😄 xx

And who could possibly dislike this? I don't get that... About breastfeeding in public; honestly, it's just about getting used to it. Nursing tops help in the beginning because they cover everything while you're feeding. I NEVER used a cover. Just be mindful of him if he's trying to pull off just fold the nursing shirt over and back when he's ready again :)

Try a nursing cover which is boned so you can still make eye contact with him while he is feeding. I had one and it helped to build my confidence. Much easier than trying to tuck a muslin cloth in place. Well done mama!

Seriously loving baby week!! I'm 2 weeks pp and also chickening out of breastfeeding in public, which basically means I'm staying locked up most of the time 😕. I've been practicing getting him latched on under a cover at home, but I really do not have the balls to attempt it in public.
@emilyhh1237 жыл бұрын
Siobhán Duro have you tried breastfeeding in front of a mirror? Try it! You'll be surprised at how little you can see - baby covers most of your boob! Try the 'one up, one down' technique with your top for minimal boob flashing. :)

I could never breastfed my daughter in public because she was such a noisy eater! Lol So loud! She breastfed till 22 months and she self weaned herself. My goal was 18 months but there were definite hard periods to go through those times (during teething and growth spurts esp!) but we got through them and I was actually pretty sad when she stopped. Hope things go smoothly with Elliot. Either way he's got great, caring parents ❤

Congrats! My tips for bf in public are use giant muslins. I would stick my head underneath with my first so I could see how she latched, it took over a month before I did it in public but im on baby number three now and never looked back!! Practise in public at a baby group where other mamas will be feeding and it's much less intimidating, maybe find a breastfeeding support group, most importantly, you got this!!! Relax and enjoy!
