Fascinating! The biggest drawback IMO though is the size - we just wouldn’t have the room for it in our house. Interesting all the same, hopefully in the future we might have something similar but Aibo sized.

Looks like a big step in the right direction. Hopefully we will have multiple robots like this one in the future getting better and better , If the technology improves these robot dogs will become more similar to real dogs, The functionality to answer calls or even answer questions can be done by Amazons Alexa , but the companionship of an improved robot dog in the future will be priceless . Hopefully Sony will launch an improved Aibo robot in the future and make it available not just the US and Japan, but to entire planet . I like the idea of talking robots like this one as it looks like from some kids movies and so I can see the market for this robot as well. The main question is how much will this robot cost?

Can it got up and down stairs? Needs to be seen out and about as it were. For the price in respect to retail prices in reflection of very smart house vacuum cleaner robots this robot dog needs to be able to map out a house and yard plus avoid obstacles indepentently to justify the price let alone be GDPR data safe for the world and Europe for a start. BabyAlpha A2 are made in China; don't know how that figures with data safety with all the previous Intel mayhem in the past and telecoms gear shipped ti the EU with snooping chips. All real valid questions- but glad some folks are hitting head on the issues of having company and robot pets with current technology, great stuff let's see if this gives confidence to other manufacturing big companies :)

You raise some excellent points! The ability to navigate stairs and map out spaces is crucial for these robot pets. It's definitely an area that needs more attention from manufacturers!

The problem with these robots is they're still sooo slow to recognise and respond to commands. You have to have patience and it doesn't feel natural. Otherwise this one has pretty good dynamic balancing, too bad it doesn't show it off more and is very static when 'idle'. And like others said, it's too big.
