The first time I discovered this show, I watched the episode with Sam already in the band, so I didn't know of Jenny's character. I didn't like it when Matt left. He just naturally looks like the leader of the band.

I know this isnt until later seasons but out of all the guys i remembered having a crush on Mark (Sly's cousin). I never got why they made him out to be the doofus of the group or had given him a love interest it seemed like he never had any luck with the girls he crushed on.

When watching this as a teenager in the 90's, I would see the episodes on TV- often out of sequence, I was always more familiar with the character of Sam, who replaces Jenny. She is in it for longer and ends up being a good part of the show. She is also more quirky and more comical than Jenny, who is probably the most sensible and down to earth on the show. So back then, I used to think I preferred Sam. However, over the last years and re-watching on KZbin now (Feb 2023) I honestly think Jenny was an awesome character, she was so grounded and no nonsense and you need that when you have a group of zany characters- deffo one of my faves! Also as much as I love Tiffani and Sam's voices - Jenny was always the strongest female singer in the show.

I can see why Jenny and eventually Matt would leave. It's like they had to take a step back from who they were in season 1 to allow Jake to shine in season 2. It turned out to be a good move for the show overall, but it diminished Matt and Jenny's characters in season 2.

Jake and Jenny would have lasted longer because they were going in the same direction in terms of career whereas Tiffany cheated and broke up with him in the end cuz they were going in different directions....it made sense for Jake to be with Tiffany simply cuz Jenny was gone

Being in Jr high when this first aired, I thought Jenny was way cooler than tiffany who was literally the blonde version of kelly kapowski. But that is from a girl's perspective ... I didn't come from the angle of testosterone but rather the "I wish I could sing like that and look good with edgy (at the time) hairstyles like that, etc etc." Tiffany was the pretty but basic every high schOol has one that most everybody in the school knows kind of girl. At the time, and being from only a private school background.... Jenny was edgier and more emotionally relatable than the blonde 😳 kelly type.
