Ian O'Brien One time ... at band camp ... no, sorry, one time on Twitter, Ben Schwartz mentioned my first compilation of him singing with Scott, tweeting a link, which was a thrill, especially as I hadn't solicited a plug (the AV Club gave it a rave review). Also Horatio Sanz retweeted a link to my Shelly Driftwood supercut (or mentioned it, I can't recall). Also awesome. As far as I know, that’s the only time any of my videos have been referred to by anyone from CBB. Not that I'm seeking recognition. I do tweet Scott and others involved links, but I don't recall ever having a response to those, though Scott has liked and retweeted and replied to some of my other tweets, which is always cool. But if I was looking for the CBB bump, I'd have stopped doing this long ago! I just love sharing classic eps with other fans, adding extra laughs if possible and hoping Scottrick sees them as intended: a tribute of respect and appreciation and thanks for introducing us to so many crazy, hilarious people. I assume not being asked to take the videos down means he doesn't hate them, if he knows about them at all. One thing's certain: if this video doesn't get a mention, NOTHING will! Thanks for the nice words. Glad you love the video.

Thanks for mentioning it. I wrote and sang it and so far this is the only recording. I had a lot of trouble getting the sound to my liking and I'm still not totally happy with it. I hope the lyrics are clear. It's hard for me to know, because I KNOW what I'm singing! I need an engineer Cody. I purchased rights to the music track for another project I'm working on and it wasn't till I was finishing this off that I decided to use it for a Gino song. I'm really glad you like it. As soon as I master the technical difficulties, I'll record a better quality version (plus the original idea, which is really exciting), so if you haven't already, subscribe to my channel and you'll be first to get them. Melissa Mystics Thanks again. I was in a cover band (Stones, Beatles, Elvis) for about ten years, just lead singer. I don’t mean “just” that way. I loved being out front, but I can’t even play guitar, something I regret not learning as a kid when everyone else was and I was lying on my guts watching the Brady Bunch. I always wanted to be a lounge singer though. I managed to sneak “Route 66” into our repertoire. Also "My Way", but the Sex Pistols version, which we'd use as our closer. That was cool. I would sing the first verse Sinatra-style, lulling the crowd into a false sense of security, as they lovingly slow-danced .... "...I did it myyyyyyy wayyyyyyyy" ... then after a four-beat silence ... from the drums: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! "REGRETS! I'VE HAD A FEW!", the dance floor immediately turning to mosh pit, me shredding whatever was left of my voice. Ah, good times! But, I had joined an already-established band with an already-established style and repertoire and felt a bit locked-in, so though it was fun, it just made me want to do something more my thing. Especially after standing and singing in front of a crowd and seeing them affected by what we were doing. In that way, music is like comedy- a great mood changer. Now I have an idea and the means (when I can master them) and, thanks to not being allowed to go anywhere, the money, to use my voice as I want. The music tracks aren’t that expensive anyway, 50 euros (around the same in USD, $85 Aussie) for a 3 year license, per track, allowing me to monetise the videos and sell the tracks. Maybe I'll do an album! But I’ve had that one track for about month and done nothing with it because of the technical hurdle. AND I HATE LEARNING CURVES. I'm embarrassed to admit, but I still have an Apple watch and a gimbal still in their boxes, because part of me can't be bothered learning how to use them (I'm old), but still, I would've played with my new toys by now, had this video not been such a distraction from not JUST the virus but everything else in my life (sometimes food!) Anyway, sorry, I'm rambling a lot on here (I can't imagine why). When I had the idea of using the track I'd bought for a Gino song, I forced myself to get out the microphone and mixer and learn how to use them (as best I could). The only other singing video I have on here ("The Virus") was recorded on my iPhone! But I wanted this to be special and I wouldn't drop the idea, because I knew it would be a perfect close after Ana Gasteyer's songs had set the tone. I just have to sort out the bloody audio gremlins. I do pull back off mic for the louder parts but my voice is powerful and still tends to distort without a technician “riding levels”. I can’t relax when I'm thinking about that and therefore I can't sing freely. I’m sure you know what I mean!

I'm glad you liked it. I will do more Gino. This has been very popular. I actually planned to do the first 20 minutes of EVERY Gino episode, called "Gino Beginnings", which is how this got its name, but it was going to be EVERY beginning. I only managed 6 episodes this time, because I began adding images and got off track. Gino has been on CBB 47 times, so even at 20 minutes each, the video would still be 16 hours long and I was thinking of doing it in 3 or 4 parts. This should've been part 1 and would've had more episodes, so sorry there's not more Gino here, thanks to my mucking about, but thankfully it's been popular and you'll be happy to know Gino is in my next video (as well as a rare DIFFERENT Jon Gabrus character!) That should be uploaded by the end of the weekend. BTW, I will do a Nick Kroll tribute one day. I think he is awesome. He is also in my next compilation and till I get that NK video made, you can enjoy him in several videos on my CBB playlist kzbin.info/aero/PLk7Qr5aivN5BUVv5z9NMjVy2YBhJQmFmX (look for "Introducing El Chupacabra", "Introducing Bobby Bottleservice", "El Chupacabra Meets Andrew Lloyd Webber", "A Solid 15% of the League Cast", "Comedy Bang Bang 171" (with Megan Mullaly) parts 1 & 2, "Best of 2010", "The Baby's Sunglasses" & "Baby Cell Phone Commercial")

Every chance it'll happen, but "soon", I can't promise that. I have three projects on the go at the moment and I've been going back and forth, stopping when I hit a problem (like finding images for live shows, or unable to think of images for a particular bit) and working on another till I think of an answer. Then, suddenly the other day, I was looking for a supercut of a VERY popular character and there is none. I was sure there would be a collection of this character up already. It's why I never did a supercut. So I am now working on THAT! The Time Keeper is on my list. I love him. So, it'll happen (and in the meantime there will be a lot of other great CBB supercuts!)

I think it's just he has a different comedic style. He's not an improvisational comic. His comedy is actually quite funny (imo), but it's the story-telling kind of comedy. It must be daunting being up against Aukerman and Gabrus riffing. I think he was happy to let them go and contribute the odd Jase-style incredulous question ("you mean you moved across the country but O&A record in New York?!"). Remember too, I only used a small part of the episode. Scott has said before when he's not sure how the show will go, he puts someone guaranteed to bring laughs into the lineup. I have noticed that Gabrus seems to be a go-to for this purpose.

I assume it is Gino]s low body weight and poor body image that caused the show to insert those staged pictures of the heavy stand in actor? Part of a positive imagery program for him to aspire to?
@BabyFaceBren2 жыл бұрын
No, that's Gino and thanks for pointing out my editing error and for reminding me what I did to him. As you can imagine, being rail thin meant tweaking all images of Gino was necessary, so he could be seen at all, and I went way too far in the opposite direction, but this was during my coke period, which over-lapped with my drinking period and now, seeing the result of those vices on screen, the way I made poor Gino "heavy", as you say and reading comments that point it out, well, if there is ANY positive from all this, it's that I am too ashamed to ever go back to those bad habits.

I think it's just a different kind of humour. I don't know his work, but I didn't mind his appearance in the Gino episode, but it's important to remember, if I am making a compilation of a guest's best, using episodes with OTHER guests, people like Pete Holmes and Mike Birbiglia (or even popular regular guests) will have most of their stuff cut out, so they will come off sounding rather innocuous, when in reality they probably provided some good laughs in their slot, but I haven't used it.
