The 8 mm version works great for applying Fold Over Elastic. The FOE I use is 5/8" (16 mm) wide when flat and 5/16" (8 mm) when folded. The attachment doesn't double fold the elastic but it does align the FOE in the right spot to align with the needle(s) so it folds when feeding the fabric. It makes sewing panties or any sportswear with elastic bound edges a lot easier.

Thanks for a terrific, straight forward video. I've been working with my binder attachments with inconsistent results and a few of the things you pointed out will be helpful.

I just bought one of these for my BL coverstitch but mine looks different. I do not have that winding feature but I don't think it matters. But I did not understand how to line it up with the needles on the machine or which stitch to use or how much to feed the fabric in against the side of the attachment to make sure both sides of the trim caught the fabric. Also there are sever holes on the attachment as well as 2 screws that I could have used more explaination about. It seemed wrong to have the plates overlap and I kept trying to make it work. Your video was helpful and it is the only one I could find. Thanks for posting it. I have to go back and rip stitches again!

Excellent. I teach also, the Sue Green-Baker 3 day serger events and I must say you've done a great job with this. I think this might be the only one so far on the web. Kudo's to you! RoseMary

I'm in the market for a cover stitch machine. I have a baby lock serger (Imagine) but it just serges. I was hoping to find a general review of the machine you're using but after searching your account I don't see one. I'm hoping you'll do that next?!! You do an excellent job at explaining how things work!

Thank you so much! I think this may make it possible for me to use the binder foot I have--the tip about aligning the tabs could be what I was missing, as I've had a lot of trouble with the fabric unfolding before it's sewn down.

Thank you for the video. I am wondering how this would work "in the round"? Can I attach the binding after both shoulder seams are sewn or do I need to leave on un-sewn and then attach the neck binding?

Is it better to use a bias binder foot on a serger or regular sewing machine with stretch fabrics, making bikinis or something? Trying to decide to buy for both or just one

My foot butts up against this attachment so close that I can’t raise or lower my pressure foot..is that right? I see no way to adjust it.

Great Video ! Thank you. Do you know if this attachment can be use on the BL Evolution with coverstitch function... in the book it describes is a usable on the Ovation with the additional table added. I'm not sure if that table will also attach to the Evolution.

Thank you for this video. Just one thing I noticed it that you at threading the fabric at the feeder "wrong". it's supposed to weave in and out of every bit and not just every second one (I've bought the attachment from a babylock seller and she demonstrated it for me)

I think not going thru every rake makes it not pull on the binding as much... Mine behaves better if I don't put it thru every weave.

Great video! I don't own one of these attachments so I am wondering what kind of project would you use this technique for. Thanks!!

I use it for binding neckbands and arm holes on tank tops. Any application that needs binding basically. Ie trim on onesies and baby jumpers. I don't work with wovens so I'm not sure what application you'd use it for those. Here's my accompanying blog post to this video. Has a picture of a neckband. It provides for awesome stretch at the openings so no popping of threads. www.reddog-studio.com/2015/12/babylock-coverstitch-double-fold-binder-attachment/

what Babylock machine do you own? I have a Janome cp1000 and a Bernina 1300dc. Both hate the double binder. Skipped stitches, pushes fabric out, doesn't pull fabric evenly. They both are horrible with stretch fabric. I've tried everything. I love love love Babylock serger so was thinking of getting a coverstitch BL.
