It is likely the mic was Key Kobayashi's (their producer) idea. Su had the mic in the official MV when she was 14. Unlikely at that point she even knew who Freddie Mercury was.

@@outwest1014 I didn't say Su came up with the idea to use it, obviously not, only that it's a mic resembling a Freddie Mercury mic so someone in the Babymetal production team chose it (for the video and later live concerts) for that reason. So, likely Kobametal was the one who wanted to include a Freddie homage for this song.

SU rocking the FREDDY MERCURY style mic stick? The 'ki-e-ro' ( MEANING= DISAPPEAR )crowd chant moment at 5:05 mark of your video still gives me goosebumps every time I watch this video, Made all the more effective as the instruments all come back in. In 2010 Nakamoto Suzuka became Su-Metal. Nakamoto has been Su-Metal for nearly half her life. Aside from the fact she is from Hiroshima and has 2 sisters we known little about her private life, which a good thing. Also Kikuchi Moa has been Moametal for nearly half her life. They basically became international Idols at 15/16 in 30 minutes in England. It's just talent, professionalism, and charisma on a very high level. Happy Birthday Nakamoto Suzuka!!

Super happy you both did this reaction. What a great performance and crowd. This was the 2nd time they performed this song that night. They opened the concert with it but it was a techno infuzed hype version of it. Talk about a fun way to get the crowd even more energized. You should check it out. Leave it to BabyMetal to do another version of their own song and make it just as fun. Su lip syncs in it but its all for fun and to hype up the crowd. here is the link. ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 You're right that Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) was there, along with guitarist Leda Cygnus, with BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. However, this 2013 concert was 7 years ago, not 4. It celebrated Su's 16th birthday. Su was only 12 years old when BABYMETAL started in 2010. They recorded 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' a couple of months before her 13th birthday.

The brutal double-bass part at 2:49 which impressed you is, interesting enough, an homage to typical/cheesy cliche of Japanese idol pop song. The "bam-ba'bam-WHOO!" can be found in a lot, lot of idol pops, and "WHOO!" is what audience shout and they jump as they shout. BABYMETAL translated this cliche in metal manner, with the crazy double-bass kicks.

Headbanger is even some kind of birthday song. Lyrics are about a girl who sneaks out from home to spend her 15th birthday first time on a metal concert in order to headbang. There are several epic versions of this song. Really hard to decide the favorite. On their first world tour 2014 Moa and Yui became 15. And on their birthday (Yui in Paris Moa in Cologne) they were allowed to sing 2nd half of the song. Legend S 2017 was Sus becomming of age birthday party and she changed the lines from 15th to 20th birthday (Most epic version ever). The same did Moa on Legend M 2019 when she finished the song on her becoming of age birthday party.

I don't no if you have bean told but this was a special concert for Babymetal, so if you don't no hear is why. *BABYMETAL - LEGEND 1997 APOCALYPSE CONCERT* at Makuhari Messe, Chiba Japan. This concert was on the 21/12/2013, the concert was named (Legend 1997) because that was the year when Suzuka Nakamoto the lead singer was born on the 20/12/1997, so the show is in some way (SU-METAL's 16th birthday party) how did you celebrate your 16th birthday? I cannot remember mine, SU is not going to forget her 16th birthday. The whole show (Legend 1997) is all about BABYMETAL's final transition from being a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin and J-pop Idols in to an independent and a live performance metal band. The show started with an opening performance with Yui and Moa carrying neck braces to the music of 'Ave Maria', this is telling you who the statue is of at the back of the stage 'Mary Nazareth' (Mary of Nazareth) this opening performance comes to a conclusion when Yui and Moa offer up the neck braces to the statue and descend below the stage, to be replaced bye SU waring a neck brace standing on a plinth that rises half way up the statue, Yui and Moa then reappear back on stage and they go into there first song of the show. That song is a very techno dance remix of 'Headbanger' (Headbanger!! -Night of 15 mix-) but it was not remixed bye a fan Babymetal remixt it, if you ever watch it how you see it is how they performed it on stang, it will all so be very clear that they are lip-syncing and if you don't no anything about the world of pop ldols they nearly allwas lip-sync, now remember this concert is about there transition so this first song was entirely and unashamedly lip-synced to a backing track and they were not trying to hide it, I don't think that Yui or Moa ever tried to pretend they were singing they just smiled danced, and interacted with the fans even when they reappear back on stage at the start of this song the looks on there faces said "we are going to have fun with this", SU no the other hand loves to sing and the look on her face at the start of this song was more like "HO BOY lets get this over with", SU do's lip-sync with the mic but there are times were she moves the mic away and carries on singing and at one part the other dancers lift SU up arms outstretched mic in hand and you can hear her singing but SU's lips are sealed and the look on her face at this point is just saying "REALY", even the band that are on stage with them are fake thay are actors dressed skeleton outfits called (The Babybones) and are pretending to play there instruments. So now you no about the first song what about the rest of the concert and no I not going through each song individually I will put a play list up of them for you, what I will say is that the techno dance remix of 'Headbanger' was the last time you would see SU-Metal, YuiMetal or MoaMetal lip-syncing, for the rest of this concert and every concert that they have done since the girls are singing LIVE, however the rest of this concert was done to backing tracks with The Babybones pretending to play, but the fans went hard at this concert and so did the girls it was one hell of a party that I would have loved to have bean at. Now that may have bean the end of the concert but it was not the end of there transition, the show was about to begin the girls would come back out on stage for a five song encore but this time The Babybones were not with them, the band that came back out on stage with SU, Yui and Moa were THE KAMI BAND and they don't have to pretend to play there instruments, The Kami Band is made up from some of the vary best musicians that there are in the world today and they were about to rock this place to it's very foundations, the five songs they were to perform are these. -ENCORE- Onedari Daisakusen Catch Me If You Can (Extended Intro) Head Bangya Akatsuki (Unfinished Version) Babymetal Death *The Band* The Kami Band - Aoyama Hideki (Drums), BOH (Bass), Fujioka Mikio (Guitar), Leda Cygnus (Guitar). So now what do we have a very hyped up crowd rocking hard the girls feeding off the crowds energy and going harder and now a live band that always rock hard and heavy, Babymetal's transition from pop Idol singers into a live performance heavymetal band was complete, I said before that this was one hell of a party for these last five songs HELL would think that it was being invaded. There was one more thing to be done and it would involve the last song BABYMETAL DEATH, but that neads a description all of it's own so we will leave that for now. JUST AS AN EXTRA FOR YOU. This how ever would not be the last time that The Babybones would perform with the girls, Babymetal is not just a band they refer to it as The Babymetal Family and once you are a part of the family you will allways be a part of it and The Babybones had bean a big part of Babymetal and there evolution to were they are now, so as a farewell to the fans The Babybones were given one last tour to do with the girls it would consist of five concerts two out side of Japan and three in Japan. Thanks for the vid guys! You should check out Su’s special 15th birthday solo song, “White Love” since it his her birthday today. I think they only did this song one time at ‘Legend D’. Also, there are performances of ‘Headbanger’ where Moa and Yui take over the lead role for the second half of the song. I think the most famous version of this is referred to as ‘Moabanger’ when Moa does ‘Headbanger’ at ‘Legend M’ on her 20th birthday. Moa performs it so well, I seen someone describe her voice during this song as “sounding like a smile”, which is accurate tbh ‘Headbanger’ is one of Babymetal’s earliest, most popular, and most important songs. Anytime you see a neck brace in or at a Babymetal show, it is because of the MV for ‘Headbanger’. It’s a song about a 15 year old girl going to her first Metal concert and basically breaking out of her shell and becoming a proper metalhead as well as ‘breaking the mold’ so to speak.

Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。This MV was filmed on Dec. 21, 2013, so 7 years ago. In your video, you heard the crowd shouts some words at 05:05. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!". If you do search in KZbin with keywords "babymetal 2019 forum headbang" you will find videos showing Su-Metal directs her mic towards 17,000 American audiences and they shout the same Japanese words on the cue at the Forum, LA on Oct. 11 last year. I believe it made our Metal Queen happy.
