⚡ 💀 💕 / 👧 👧 👧 Fans did not know the 'LEGEND D' setlist in advance, and didn't know the backstory with Yui. Of course there were some who had been Karen Girl's fans, or had heard the original version of the song. The hospital staff wanted Yui to be able to listen to music that she listened to all the time. At this point, that was songs by Karen Girl's. Yui listened to many of their songs in the hospital, not just 'Over The Future'. Ayami Mutō, who became the first Sakura Gakuin Class President was also a Karen Girl's member. Yui and Ayami's family were friends. As Yui put it, "When we heard Ayami-chan was going to be in Karen Girl's our whole family cheered them on." The third Karen Girl's member, Yuika Shima, did not join Sakura Gakuin. She's working as a stage actress. Ayami is a singer and TV and radio personality.

Nice that you got most of the back story from whoever requested it, so Good Job that person.🦊 As well as this being the moment Yui's dream "to be a Karen Girl's" came true it is worth mentioning that she said that to her family at the Karen Girl's farewell concert where they were making their final performance, the anime was coming to an end, they were saying goodbye to the fans. Yui and her family were in the audience - Yui dancing along of course. Also there that day was BABYMETAL's producer Kobametal with another group (all of whom also joined Sakura Gakuin) Mini Patti. It was at this show he saw and heard Su-metal and saw her potential with her unusually loud (for a JPop Idol) singing style and her stage presence ... and the wild notion of her fronting a fusion Metal_JPop band formed in his mind. 'Over The Future' was not only Yui's favourite song and significant to her, it is possibly the song that led to BABYMETAL happening in the first place. This one-off performance of 'Over The Future' by BABYMETAL happened at the Legend D concert on 20th December 2012 ... Su-metal's 15th birthday.

In the 2014 graduation photo book interview Nene said that they auditioned/ Rehearsed for over a year ( probably management setting up the group- songs, staff, studio ect. And the girls evening out their skills). In the Russian group interview Raura said that the audition process was 8 weeks. So my point is that they practiced for over a year and YUI and Moa might have been 9 in that audition video.

IMO this performance as well as the Legend S, M, and MM birthday shows in each performer's hometown, shows a level of respect by Kobametal and management for the ladies. The happenstances surrounding "Over the Future" cumminated in the musical miracae known as BABYMETAL Yui hearing the song and constantly practicing the cheography, wanting to be a Karen Girl.'s Koba seeing Suzuka at the Karen Girl's last performance; recognizing herr stage presence and strong vocals were ideal for in his J-Pop/Metal fusion. Yui Mizuno and Ayami Mutō families were good friends. Ayami Mutō was also a member of Karen Girls's. Iirc Yui was a guest of Ayami at that final performance. Suzuka and Ayami were "founding" members of Sakura Gaukin Key Kobayashi, aka Kobametal was assigned to Sakura Gauing as a prducer Yui and Moa performed "Over the Future" for their audition into Sakura Gaukin. Amuse allowing Koba to experiment with his J-Pop/Metal project withing SG Koba selecting Suzuka as the lead in SG "heavy metal club" aka BABYMETAL Koba tapped Yui and Moa, because of their similar heights (Moa is not small) and vocals to add the idol aspect to the heavy metal club. The story of BABYMETAL would make an interesting "documentary". And perhaps further expand their recognizaation.

Another element as to why this performance is a "FULL CIRCLE" moment, is that Moa and Yui together submitted a joint audition video to join Sakura Gakuin (the jpop idol group which eventually would help create BABYMETAL) and together they did a dance routine to THIS song in that video. So, what you see Yui and Moa doing in this live performance up until Su starts singing, is pretty much the same performance that Yui and Moa did in the audition video, except they were wearing sweatpants and t-shirts and they were SUPER tiny because I believe they were just 10 years old at the time.🤘🦊🤘

In the beginning, Babymetal didn't have enough songs, so they did covers. Over The Future was done for Moa and Yui. They dreamed of it. There were many other covers as well.

One detail to the story that is often left out is that another member of Karen Girls, Ayami Muto's family and Yui's family were friends so it is likely that Yui listened to this song and wanted to be an idol because of her connection with Ayami and not Su. Not quite as romantic, but to those of us who are also fans of Ayami it is.

I was gonna mention this too, though I had only heard it from one commenter before. But yeah there's an SG interview where Yui kinda hints that Ayami was her hero. But I'm sure making that close connection with another of the Karen Girl's members was still a big deal for her too.

True. My guess is that their mothers hung out together with the kids so they grew up together and were practically cousins. It looks like YUI followed Ayami into all aspects of the business. YUI has written about Ayami a few times. I just looked up her 4th SG diary. "S G girls as YUI sees them". She said they were good friends before SG and they sometimes go to soccer and volleyball games together. Or just hang out and dress alike. Like real sisters. If you search their names together you might find a photo of them wearing matching Roni shirts. That's a clothing line both modeled for but they definitely weren't modeling here. And if you search Yui Mizuno Kawasaki Frontal you'll see a photo of YUI and Ayami and another girl at a soccer game. YUI got the royal treatment there. She's like a mascot to the fans.

Without this song BabyMetal might not exist as it is today. It is the song that started Su on the idol path and made Yui want to perform. It is also the song Yui and Moa used in their audition to SG

The Yui story about Over the Future almost makes me cry. How sweet is it that she got to be with Su and do the song. It was the theme song for an Anime. It was metalized for BabyMetal. There is a side-by-side video of Karen Girls and BabyMetal and the dances are the same.

Koba saw Su perform in Karen Girl's and came up with the concept of Babymetal as a way to showcase Su's talents. Over the Future is important in the development of Babymetal in many ways. I don't think the audience knew the backstory because I believe Yui told it after the performance. Could be wrong. And yes same dance.

Molly Bee is back! Yey! So glad to see you're back with this suggestion and knowing the full story. This was a special moment for YuiMetal when she felt realized as an idol. The original jpop version with Karen Girls watching little Su with 9 yo is also super cute and fun. I think nobody knew the setlist on this show beforehand, so totally unexpected, but many of the fans been following Su since a very long time so definitely they knew about it, also a lot of Sakura Gakuin fans went there and iirc they already knew about Yui and Moa SG audition dancing with this song, but either way Yui talked about this later and said how meaningful was this for her, our tomato princess 🍅❤ Please, don't miss out the collab and song of the year along with Electric Callboy: - *RATATATA* official MV, just careful with blocked and put some visual filters. This month they started the Asian Tour and in October they will be at Knotfest Brazil, Argentina and Chile for the first time in South America, as well Peru with a headlining show, they will come back to the US for another tour and also Mexico will be part of that tour but this time as special guests for Slipknot, we can't wait for it. Babymetals backstory is going to make for an awesome biopic one day, though it will have to be a trilogy by the time they are all done. Even though this is a cover, it's a semi-official Babymetal song to me, it was written for su to sing after all. This should have been put out as a b-side. If you or any Babymetal fans reading this want to hear a song that you would swear is from the early live era of Babymetal, check out a song called 'Never ending punchline' by idol group Magical punchline from 2016. There's good reason it sounds like early Babymetal, it's written for them by yuyoyuppe (monochrome), who must have been inspired by Over the future, Megitsune, Meta Taro and a bit of Tales of the Destinies when he wrote it.

Nice reaction, you were right that the original was not as heavy and the song was Babymetal'd. You should check out their collab with Electric Callboy called Ratatata it's a fun track they've been performing live together with Electric Callboy at a lot of the shows they've been together on.

Well, we know that it was a dream of Yui, but we don't know about Moa. There were some issues at the founding of Skura Gakuin and Yui's and Moa's existance was one of them. It was an old Song for Su and Yui Dreamteam of performance with them.
