PIA Arena was an amazing show. I was there in the crowd for both nights. Of all the Babymetal shows I have been to, PIA is my favourite. Road of Resistance is a staple part of their live set and is usually the finale for Babymetal shows, but at Clear Night they played it as the second song of the night. Clear Night was actually the first time they wore these outfits. These have been the outfits for all the of 2023-24 world tour, but at FOX_FEST last weekend (which I also went to), they debuted a new outfit briefly for a special introduction performance of Megitsune that they did. It remains to be seen if the new outfits will be seen again in any upcoming performances or if they were a one off. I kind of hope they start using them because they looked awesome. Babymetal's drummer is Anthony Barone, who is also the drummer for All That Remains.

Great reaction. The first time they played 'Road of Resistance' was in London in December 2014. It was a brand new song, nobody had heard it, nobody even knew it existed ... but the girls commanded a wall of death and, just as they did in this video, the whole crowd picked up the tune and sang along. 'Road of Resistance' is a very positive song, it isn't the usual "resist the machine or the system etc" that we might expect from the title. It is about forging your own road even where a road doesn't already exist, not necessarily going the easy way (ie the path of least resistance) or following the path already made by somebody else, so if the way you want to go has never been trodden you may have to get past the resistance of the undergrowth, obstacles, hurdles and things blocking your way etc to find your own way. It could easily be used to describe BABYMETAL's own story - they could have followed the well trodden path of J-Pop and been very successful, but they chose to go with Metal ... but again they didn't just follow the same old format of every other metal band, they have done it their own way and it hasn't always been an easy road to follow. Not sure about Styx - Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce did the guitar arrangements for this song (it is the only one they were involved in) and recorded the guitars for the album version. They have said they made this more technical and faster than most of their own songs thinking they would never have to play it live ... and that they had to practice hard when they did perform it with BABYMETAL at an awards show in London in 2015.

@@alexatakesalook I can only imagine how it was for those there. I’ve only experienced it through the concert Blu-rays (which still is incredible). The interlude videos kept saying “death/end of Babymetal” during day 1 (Black Night). Even though we all knew that wasn’t real, still had me on the edge of my seat, until the “new Babymetal” was reborn with Momometal. Then the crowd went wild. Next day (Clear Night), they brought back BABYMETAL DEATH as the show opener. First time since ~5+ years ago when Yui left. Momo now has a mic, and the translucent bits were added to their outfits. Amazing. 🤘🦊🔥

@@alexatakesalook haha, yeah, they are not cheap, but totally worth it, even with the crazy international shipping cost. If you end up with the budget for them, Legend MM is my favorite (Momo’s 21st bday), Pia Arena is a close 2nd. I’ve watched the WowWow stream floating on the interwebs many times, and waiting patiently for my blu-rays after Jul 10th release date. I been trying to buy more merch too, but it’s always sold out, lol.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The crowd involvement (circle pit, call & response, chant etc.) occurs wherever they go on this planet. This anthemic song was played in every show in their 2023 tours in North American, EU/UK, Asia and Australia. (And several times in USA/Japan this year already) The audience reaction is always similar to it in this video. Western (American) Kami Band played in the girls' back. They have supported BABYMETAL's since 2019. Japanese fans always appreciate the devoted support like knights by Chris, CJ, Anthony and Clint (Ryan replaced sometimes). They are really unsung heroes.

Really enjoy your reactions. Just a great positive energy. And I'm with you, this is a really emotional performance you can see it on all their faces, especially Su's. That little smiling nod she gives to the audience when they're singing the whoa's. It's like you can see the ten years since "Live in Japan" just all shining in her eyes. These costumes I believe they're calling the New Era costumes to distliguish from the warrior princess look. Pre-official MomoMetal times. Very nice job!

The song was written with Herman Li of Dragonforce back in 2014 and was their first metal collaboration, which might be why it reminded you of another band.

That's actually not a newer song, there's another video of them doing it when they were 17 and 15 (2015) I believe and it is also extremely epic, seeing them at that age totally having 20 thousand people totally wrapped around their fingers. And the dancing was a lot more energetic , and of course, Yui was still with them. Worth checking out even if you don't react to it to see the difference 9 years can make.

Nice reaction as always. Probably on your list but you should do a compare and contrast with the official live version from 2015. What you notice is how the production has changed with the older version having a much rawer feel compared to the more rounded sound from 2023. Both are very good but interesting to see/hear the difference from 8 years apart. Dragonforce were heavily involved in this which a lot of reactors pick up on and there's a version where they perform this together. ​@@alexatakesalook For the original version the guitar parts were arranged by Dragonforce and are higher pitched and more squealy, sorry there's probably a proper musical term but I'm not a musician, than the smoother/fuller sound of the later versions. Road Of Resistance shows this the most but you can hear it on a lot of the older songs when comparing the older 'Yui era' versions and the current performances. Just a theory but the more raw style may have suited better when they were younger and now they're more mature in their 20s a more 'grown up' sound may fit better. My preference is for the originals but both are good.

Great reaction. This song was the first single of their second album, and was first released as a bonus song for a limited edition of their first album. PIA Arena concerts are probably my favorites of theirs, and the only ones that could potentially eclipse them being Legend MM which will be officially released on Blu-ray in July.
