⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 And… that's why we made her our queen at 16 years old. : ) Her voice is even better now that she's 23. Su sang three solo songs that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. I already liked BABYMETAL, but those solo songs made me a die hard fan. Dancing on a small platform raised ten feet in the air demonstrates courage. Following up an introduction where each Kami Band member shows off their skills with a solo, shows total fearlessness. : ) BTW, that instrumental with the guitar, bass and drum solos is 'Mischief of the Metal Gods'.
@papa_xan3 жыл бұрын
This is certainly has a darker theme than most Babymetal songs. It's basically describing Su being stuck in a recurring nightmare, being pursued by something she cannot see, and no matter how far she runs or where she hides she cannot escape. She finally gives up and only wants to see what it is that's chasing her before she dies.

I think a lot of Babymetal's songs are not just 'press play' songs. I almost never casually listen to Babymetal. Even in their fun party songs there is a lot going on visually and musically that you don't want to ignore. Even if I'm blasting them in my car I am focused on the song. I'm focused on my driving first of course, but the rest of my attention goes to the song. 🙂

@@jeffschreifels8651 you'd pronounce it closer to "ski" tho. The u in su gets dropped a lot. Like desu and masu get pronounced des and mas, or asuka sounds like aska. Edit, when singing the vowel gets dragged out so you'll hear them more in song, but not so much in conversation. Dropped is a bad word, it's kinda there but not really. Great & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 You are correct. Kamis' (=Gods') super plays were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently and turned Kamis' plays into a ritual to summon her. This was filmed in 2014 at Budokan (武道館). Currently BABYMETAL has been holding 10 concerts at the same venue to commemorate their 10th anniversary taking very strict countermeasures against the infection. They held 1 thru 6 shows in January and February. The stage setups were more spectacle and aesthetically mesmerizing. I witnessed 5 shows at the venue and almost died for joy 5 times. I really look forward to seeing this song in the remaining 4 shows.

Actually there are not much effects on her voice during that part. It is a technique were you tuck your down to compress your vocal cords and sing into the side of the microphone to get that low fi effect. That is how good she is....

What you describe about the song structure, the recurring 'main theme' part (the one you call chaotic, probably because it's in an odd meter, 3/4 or 6/8) alternating with non-repeating other parts, that's exactly what a rondo is defined as (usually in classical music, but it works just as well in progressive rock and metal). So this actually IS a rondo. ;-) Su-metal has repeatedly stated that she had always dreamed about becoming a singer in musicals, and this song and performance is kinda like an hommage to that. You mistook the intro part from earlier comments, btw: folks were simply referring to this version with the 'Mischief of the Gods' intro as opposed to an abridged version with only the song itself. 'Rondo of Nightmare' isn't an intro song, it sits in the latter half of the first album. :-)

I love this song! The melody of the chorus is so incredibly beautiful, and it also has such an amazingly strong but still subtle dark atmosphere. And I totally agree with you, when the chorus comes back after the calmer interlude, it has such a strong impact, it's totally captivating. It hammers the emotion right into your heart. One thing I also find fascinating: Although there's not as much going on on stage as usual (when the dancers are around), the visuals really add a lot to it. It makes the experience much more intense, just because of Su's stage presence.

Great reaction and glad you got to this one. While it does seem she has a filter on her voice at the final soft section, if you look close you can see that she is singing through her nose to give that effect. I honestly can't tell, but other more musically inclined people have said this was a singing technique and not a filter on the mic or backing track. Either way it sounds great. Babymetal is just an accumulation of talent striving to the point of perfection from top to bottom from the production team down to the detail of their costumes. So much care and attention to detail with everything. Just makes me want to watch more. Keep up the great work and reactions. "I miss the other two girls"...yes so do I...particularly Yui ;-) This is a very dark song where Su is chased by something she cannot escape. The final chorus offers no happy resolution: It flickers slowly appearing and disappearing in my mind. A nightmare rondo is being repeated. The awakening light is gone far away out of my sight. I can do nothing but fall into the darkness. I'm always reminded of "monsters from the id". Those of us that don't understand Japanese always have to read the lyrics through the refractive prism of translation, but we have the music, the dancing and Su's voice as well so I think we can get close to the meaning.
