Yes .. YG styling for sure. But....I believe that they are paying homage to older YG artists (Gen 1,2,3 even 4 ). There are sections that showcase these previous artists... Passing the baton and running with it. Next "Batter UP"! **Note: members of the production/lyrical team: Treasure member (sorry forgot which one) , Lee from AKMU, Deep (produced BlackPink). I think Ruka's jacket when she starts to rap...reminds me of G-Dragon's at 2015 MAMA; the end dancing: Treasure/ and Gen 1 feel.... and possibly BlackPink too. The Car.... almost all YG have one. The "crown" Chiquita uses...homage to her favorite artist Lisa. So yeah.... Definitely a YG feel....but that's what PapaYG stated from the beginning. YG genes with baby artists.... that have Monstrous Talent! I understand that some people might have wanted something different, but let's give them a moment to pay homage to the roots of the company YG. The actual album debut will be the true test for these girls. Can YG utilize their vocals and rapping talent but in an original format.....that's the question. Hopefully he doesn't waste that talent. So now that I'm done with my rant...haha... I get it, and wait hopefully for the album release. Have a great New Year!! from 🇨🇦👍😎

YG is not just a company, it is a culture. YG is a music genre itself. and it is funny how people are saying "it sounds like YG" "Again same sound as YG" "sounds like 2ne1 or blackpink" like DUHHH?????? what do you think? they will sound like SM or JYP? it is YG, from 1TYM to Treasure it is YG. and it will be sound like YG. that's why compare to other Labels, only YG has this solid "YG stan" only because of the YG vibe and the YG sound.

YG formula. I agree, I don't care. I love the song. I mean why fix what isn't broken? It's a "formula" for a reason. It's funny how some people get so irked about it. Asa and Rora are my bias. Haram is my wrecker. Who knows if that will change when they come back.

The reaction I've been waiting for😭 i was holding my life for not pausing while watching the MV for the first time and end up tearing up because that exactly what i want and they are soooo good😭 people become a music expert when it comes to YG music, but YG stan just want to enjoy music, not to think about it, lol. unless every easter egg in the MV that we love to make such theory with other YG artist MV😂 YG stan, YG family, our future is bright😭🖤

True 💯🔥 Jyp, sm and hybe are pretty much the same companies right now. Quite sad how back then YG, JYP and SM offered distinct flavors. Jyp and sm have lost their flavors post third gen. Sure they are still successful but they sound soulless.

I liked their debut for what it was and it can only go up from here!. This song and music video were very YG style. Some people love it or hate it but I personally expected it cause BP was compared to 2NE1 back in the day when they debut. I hope they can find their own sound and identity within the music industry especially now that all Blackpink members renewed their contracts with YG. Pharita really shocked me with the "Remember Me" rap part and Chiquita impressed me the most with her presence vocals and facial expressions! She is really growing up and so proud of her. I really hope Ahyeon gets healthy soon and can return soon. She is my bias and the group feels incomplete without her.

Great reaction Jan. They're finally here - AFTER MONTHS OF WAITING. So worth it though (as with every YGA, QUALITY), and very happy with the result. Honestly couldn't expect a better debut; they smashed it (and broke records, too). Ahyeon's situation is unfortunate, but I'm not worried about the negative speculations; she'll definitely be back to complete the group. I love the song a lot, though I agree about your take that it feels like a preview of what's to come. And what a great preview it was! I'm definitely seeing YG's strategy with this debut promo and no one can say that it's not working - girls are breaking records and gaining more fans as we speak. Whether the next music's going to be another single or an album (I'm confident they'll open the new year with their follow-up release), I am incredibly excited to see and hear more from them and what YG has in store for these girls music-wise. Also, you hit the nail on the head with this statement: "If they (YG) break out of that structure, then who's going to do it like them?" Bravo. YG is YG because they have that distinctive vibe that nobody else offers, and I'm really glad that they strongly stick to and persist with their own branding and identity that has been beloved by many for years and years.

There's nothing wrong in sounding like a YG group because they r from YG 😂 Remember when Treasure debuted i heard comments like "are they from YG? They sound like an SM group".... This s very contradictory meaning they want to just throw shade when it comes to YG and its groups. U shld never detach from what makes u a YG artist only then u will have a certain identity and edge. YG's identity s hiphop and rap, u expect their artists to only sing? Do cutesy style? Bruh, comeon talk some sense. Im okay with ppl disliking a song but hating s not okay especially the artists and the company! And one more annoying thing s ppl talking as BP owns/introduced everything. As a YG stan this stance s killing me 😢 Listen BP has a certain type of image cuz they r from YG, YG made them, YG projected them in a particular way for the public to see! Thanks for another great reaction. I always look forward to your reactions and insights. I feel the MV and song is just the tip of the iceberg so to speak in letting the world know who they are and what they are capable of. When (I use when and not if) Ahyeon comes back, they will start showcasing their true power. As for the choreography and song, it makes for an easy on-stage performance later when touring. Kudos to YG for keeping to their strengths. I wish the girls all the success in the world.

I was waiting for your reaction who si such a big fan of K-pop specially who understands the YG Style. Lot of people saying they are mix of 2ne1 & Blackpink like when Blackpink debut, they said that they are copy of 2ne1. Now they are jealous of the Success of Blackpink. Yes I agree with your take that Batter Up just a warm up for Babymonster, because we knew what this girls can do. Not bad for a 17yr old on her first debut song!! I mean wow!! Also there is a guy from Treasure (sorry not sure of his name), who slso has credit on this song... I get the feeling that his touch might be the "ending anthem" section but im not sure. (That had a Treasure feeling...). By the way, you are going to love the behind the scenes/making of Batter Up. It didn't meet my expectations but im not disappointed cuz the debut is good and its a solid debut! Yes for me the same this feels like an just an introduction cuz YG already know whatever they put out first is going to do great and im pretty much sure that there are things coming and for sure better. The comeback is the most important thing to stablish you as a group im sure they have planned this already and hopefully we get to see all 7
