In the nicest way possible, yg needs to elevate their sound because this whole "it's very yg" excuse is not going to cut it everytime. SM also has a distinct sound, but their groups are very different and unique. And get better writers for goodness sake, because these lyrics are NOT it. Babymonster is way too talented to be given this mediocre music but hey that's just me🤷🏽♀️

It’s mind boggling how much more lyrical substance their pre-debut song Dream has than the first two releases from this album.

This song is ok. The bars needed a little work I felt. I guess whenever I hear a rap heavy song from a girl group….in my mind XG’s Woke Up sets the bar. But there was some cool parts in the song…I hope they continue to experiment in this sound.

I love the honesty. Cause um...this wasn't my cup of tea either. I know YG loves a switch up ending, but this one seemed so...jarring?

Thank you for your honesty. I have been hearing nothing but rave reviews on this, but was pretty disappointed. I think BM has a lot of talent and could’ve gone much harder, but the lyrics did not match the vibe to me.

To me, it feels like they are posers, trying to be all hard and hip hop, but somehow seems a little disingenuous. For example, I watch Young Posse and I feel the rap/hip hop vibe for reals, like they really are that style, but with Babymonster, I feel like they are just tryin to be's, /shrug I'm sure the fans will call me a hater for that opinion.

Honestly, this song really left a bad taste in my mouth. All Babymonster sings about is money. And I'm really tired of it. Especially since they're a new group. Like, the majority of us have minimal savings, are living pay check to pay check, will never own a home and may never even be able to retire, and they're in our faces singing about how much better they are than all of us because they have tennis bracelets and designer clothing. Wow ok, thanks. I know we're all coming to kpop to escape and have fun, but this is a bit much. I know it's not that deep, but I had such a viseral reaction of disgust when I first heard this song. And now I just feel...hollow. And at the end of the day, I think that's what this song is. It's hollow. These girls are much too talented for hollow.
@dropthehammer136016 күн бұрын
Shallow lyrics without substance. They do have better songs though. Strangely enough, their pre-debut song Dream has the most meaningful lyrics of any of their songs so far. Let’s hope the young ladies are given what they deserve sooner than later because they really are too talented to waste on tracks like this one.

They have visuals and powerful talents. I gotta give that to them, but as a fan of baemon, I'm tired of waiting for YG to give my girls a chance to have a passion for music and the art of it. I don't want them to be just performers on stage; I want them to shine as musical artists.

I was happy you reacted to it because I likely wasn't going to on my own. My first and strongest reaction was that I hope people don't listen to this and think this is what kpop is like, just because it's got numbers. With great respect to the members, who are using their incredible skill to work with what they're given, this song has no substance, no style, no soul, and I'm happy they immediately moved on to the next title track already. It's a caricature, but it's not self-aware enough to use that to its advantage. While baemon is still a complete miss for me and what I like personally, Drip just now came out and is a decent song that actually lets them show the heat they're capable of giving.

Seems like they're trying to imitate XG in some ways, but not fully pulling it off? I think it would be an okay B-side.
@justpat231616 күн бұрын
I dont think so personally. I liked them rapping in 'Sheesh' & 'Like That'. This One Just Didn't hit in My Opinion. But i see a lot of other people really enjoy it. it just sounds very YG Recycled to me.

"they're trying to imitate XG " 🤣🤣🤣 XG is trash....wtf?
@jaden_3816 күн бұрын
I don't think they're trying to imitate XG, after all there is other girl groups with hip hop concept apart from XG, like Young Posse for example and YG has always be known for hiphop. Since debut they always made a point to showcase versatility so it is only right for them to do a full rap song at one point. In my opinion the biggest let down of the song is the repetitiveness of the chorus and the verse lyrics are a bit too generic. The members might be young, but surely the writers at YG should be able to find appropriate lyrics for a hiphop track without using onomatopeias or eeni meeni mini mo lol and if not they should have let the members write it themselves because each time they got credits, it was way better lol. The charisma, delivery ect... are all there tho, even the production as minimalistic as it was, was pretty good. And the ending might be polarizing among people but i personnaly liked it because it made the song less repetitive

These girls need a core musical Concept like R&B/Hip Hop with a pop/Dance twist (Really Like you and Billionaire) those should be their Concept YG should put them in and unfortunately they still don’t have their own Identity smh. I love these girls but YG need to work with what suits their natural style and rhythm and this ain’t it.

All I think when people are iffy on the ending switch ups is "yall didn't listen to YG did yall" he said the song/end directly ties in to the TT "DRIP" so 🤷. Everyone can have their opinion, I loved this for them. And its being received extremely well domestically in Korea. And thats truly what matters more then anything. This song really gives that BABYmonster energy that they are YOUNG and SASSY, especially in the lyrics. Thats why I dont mind the "kiddish" lyrics like eenie meenie minie moe coz it fits the concept of them being young and BABYmonsters..

YG Groups got me into kpop. Big bang, 2NE1, WINNER, and more. That's why I'm kinda exhausted with that switch up at the end. The song ain't bad, it's just not for me. Not my Vibe.
